I agree with deftone202 don't just come on a site to hinder and discourage other people's music that they enjoy. Like incubus' music is kind of binding so all of us incubus fans like to go on about how good it is so there is no need for some random person to come in ranting about how much they hate a song, if you don't like it why not just find a website for people who hate incubus and then people will encourage your choice of disliking them. |

That is what i originally heard it being about was his hand falling asleep for awhile but the a random natural thing people are going to do is interpret things in a way that will comfort them so the songs meaning can be altered to their liking. |

I kind of think the last line sort of sounds like he is waiting to find out his scores on tests or something. "echo fading candle blow, did you flash out long ago, cross my fingers, i don't know" It kind of seems like that because like after finals or big tests your brain is like fried so maybe echo fading candle blow, like the candle has blown out, and the echo is fading would mean he is just like exhuasted and did you flash out long ago, could go with that too. Obviously cross my fingers would be like hoping he did good. Well just kind of a random unique take on that verse. |

Okay I like this song but i think the line "to resist is to piss in the wind" sounds just plain dumb. I mean incubus pumps out these badass lyrics but that just seems so random compared to the rest of their lyrics. I don't know just a little random thought. |

This song kind of seems like he feels so quilty about something with this girl, probably his girlfriend. Maybe he cheated on her or something or is going to dump her but either way he needs to get it out and wants to like tell her and beg her forgiveness with an audience of inquisitive eyes watching him, so basically i agree with the whole "he has to tell this girl something" theory. |

Yeah pretty much the meaning all comes down to peoples perspective of life, someone all into romanticism (probably spelled that wrong, oh well) and all that will obviously say its about a relationship and love, then a drug user will relate it to getting high or under some influence of a drug, then there are the extremist people like that Pembroke who think what Brandon says is what it is and thats it, and then there are the philosophical thinkers who find a deep meaning to it ( i would consider myself one of these). So either way everyone has an opinion and they need to voice their opinion but they shouldn't hinder others from what they think. Everyone takes a different view and even though it may be the stupidest sounding thing you have ever heard everyone should respect that persons view and give them a chance while keeping their own view or maybe even defecting to another meaning if they think it is better. |

Yeah this is also my favorite incubus song, because i went to one of their concerts and i really didnt listen to them then and certain shade of green caught my attention as a real good one but when i listened to science i found out that idiot box is such a great song. |

Well that is interesting how the many meanings 2012 has, its kind of odd such a random number. Hmm well i guess there are a lot of opinions and ideas about the whole 2012. Yeah the green could very well be like go like a green light but i think it has something to do with the 2012 also well according to Aztec legends but the astrology version of it is pretty cool. |

I think this song has to be about a manic depressant person and possibly someone who suffers from self mutillation, due to the "little cuts on your wrist" and "can we get the chemicals in" or maybe chemicals is medication or drugs either one is a possiblilty. |

Yeah i agree Incubus is my favorite band but this song is just plain lame, also like Nickel was saying there is this great setup of songs you got vitamin,new skin, idiot box (one if their best songs eve if you ask me), glass(meh dont really like it) then this lame song, then onto some more excellant songs certain shade of green and favorite things (another best one). |

I think this is a really good song off of Blue but it seems like it would be sort of overlooked by a lot of the other good songs on Blue, but the begining to this song where its all quiet is so awesome, it almost puts you to sleep. |

I also agree that i have heard this song is about Brandon's arm falling asleep on the tour bus and you know how when it falls asleep it feels like pins and needles but there obviously has to be more to this song so i also agree with the whole "make it what you want thing" because a lot of the time thats the best way to look at any song. |

Okay i really want to try and set everyone straight, but still i could be wrong but i'm going off of what i have read on various Incubus websites. Okay this song is supposed to be about not procrastinating and all that, that has been established. But the whole green and 2012 represents the Aztec legend that the world is supposed to end at 2012 A.D. and when it ends there is supposed to be a greenish color/hue in the sky. So the song means "don't wait until the end of the world, or don't procrastinate until the end of the world". |
