I had to do some research on this song but it was well worth it... I could get most of it but what got at me was "Saturn ascends" I started looking through my Wicca books and found that Saturn means discipline...Then I searched online and found the same thing. Everything started to make more sense to me.. Maynard was talking about people holding onto what was bad and not wanting to let it go. That they hold onto that hate for dear life or they might see what's really there. That people like holding on to what they know is wrong and will find a way to make it seem right besause if they don't they have to say that they were wrong. Discipline comes (maybe the rules of society?) and someone will have to choose whether or not to follow their rules or adopt new ones, and if they accept new ones then their life will change dramatically. "Saturn ascends, the one, the ten. Ignorant to the damage done." might mean that The rules are coming but whatever the person chooses they won't think of anyone but themselves. "Saturn comes back around to show you everything Let's you choose what you will not see and then Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again Spits you out like a child, light and innocent. Saturn comes back around. Lifts you up like a child or Drags you down like a stone to Consume you till you choose to let this go. Choose to let this go. " might be saying that you have two chances to decide and shows what could happen with both decisions and that it will eat at you until you do choose something. Anyway that's just what I thought of it. |

I love this song... At first it took some getting used to for me since it was a little different but I disected it by verse so here it is: Verse 1:Black then white are all i see in my infancy. red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me. lets me see. as below, so above and beyond, I imagine drawn beyond the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend. meaning to me: It means that when he was young he was told (or knew) only two sides (IE right or wrong; left or right; up or down; heaven or hell; et cetera) but as he got older there were other factors (IE diagonal; 'white' lies; purgatory; et cetera) and the other factors called to him; they seemed more free, inviting if you will. They seemed abstract but at the same time normal. Verse 2:Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines. meaning to me: the more you think about something; the more you use reason the less you rely on what you know. It basically says (to me) to live fore the moment every now and then. verse 3: same as verse one. verse 4: over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind. Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line. Reaching out to embrace the random. Reaching out to embrace whatever may come. meaning to me: verse 2 and that what your mind/heart knows takes over and lets him go for anything he wants; free from society. verse 5: I embrace my desire to I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow to feel inspired to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral to swing on the spiral to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human. meaning to me: he finally gives into what he feels, you know-the beat of life of which you live for. He realizes that religion (whatever form it might be) should be a part of everyone not in one person... you control your destiny. verse 6:With my feet upon the ground I move myeslf between the sounds and open wide to suck it in. I feel it move across my skin. I'm reaching up and reaching out. I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me. what ever will bewilder me. And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been. We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. meaning to me: he realizes where he's at and takes in everything he sees, hears, and feels. He's looking for something new and interesting and when he finds it he intends to take it to the end and be (maybe) the first to do it. |
