I know that the term "On the Wagon" means to be drinking. Green Day has done several other drinking/substance abuse related songs, so it wouldn't surprise me if this song had something to do with alcohol. |

I always thought this song was about someone addicted to drugs/alcohol or any sort of substance and he is trying to quit, but doesn't really want to. If he doesn't quit, though, he'll suffocate.
