Good Charlotte – Girls and Boys Lyrics 22 years ago
I was a little offended when I first heard the lyrics to this song. I am a girl with a body and I don't like Ferarris. I also am not looking for a "boy" based solely on his economic status. But after reading the lyrics I think I see that Good Charlotte are attempting to be ironic and make fun of shallow, materialistic people. Too bad it comes off as ostensibly misogynistic.

311 – Do You Right (Unity version) Lyrics 22 years ago
This early version has a totally different meaning than the "Music" album version. This one's a love song. The fact that the lyrics were changed makes me think that love fell away.

This song is about enjoying this life and appreciating the Earth on which we live.

311 – DLMD Lyrics 22 years ago
I believe that the statistic is 1 of every 4 women is physically or sexually abused in her lifetime. This is simply unacceptable. Men need to stand up and be men and admit that this happens and make a concious effort to stop it. Stop teaching our young boys to be violent. Stop the cycle of violence.

Thanks 311 for standing up for women everywhere.

I think he's fascinated by this girl. She's difficult and she mystifies him. He doesn't know if he wants this relationship that's so rocky but it's hard to leave.

I love how this song references Jack Kerouac's "On the Road"--that line, "stranger flowers yet." I think it means an odd beauty.

Also, the line "launched a thousand ships in my heart so easy" refers to the story of Helen of Troy in ancient Greek mythology. Helen was the daughter of Zeus and was so beautiful that many men wanted to marry her. Somehow or another this led to the Trojan War, where Helen "launched a thousand ships" with her beauty.

311 – All Mixed Up Lyrics 22 years ago
"All Mixed Up" is a little hard to figure out. I think it's about a relationship that just isn't happening. But sometimes it seems like Nick is talking about his band and music. So maybe the song is about girls at concerts. I don't know.

What I do know about this song is that the line,
"You've got to trust your instinct and let go of regret, you've got to bet on yourself now, Star, 'cause that's your best bet," inspired me to believe in myself at a time in my life when I wanted to give up. So I guess you take from a song what you want.

311 – Amber Lyrics 22 years ago
"Amber" is about a long-distance love. The lead-singer, Nick, has a fiance named Nicole and no doubt he's probably on the road and away from her a lot. I think he probably wrote the song for her.

For me personally, the song resonates true to my own long-distance relationship. That's why it's my favorite song. "Amber" is beautiful.
