I have to point out, that although I agree with the general consensus about this being a "de-gloyifying" song. However the term "outshined" is supposed to mean burnt out, not outdone. |

I love the imagery of verse 4. In the foreground, a group of somber faced pall bearers lower her into her grave while Skip looks on farther in the back wailing her name. In the third verse when he talks about buring her and he says that nobody can take her place, he's not talking about her grave, he means no one can take the place she had in his life.
What happened was he killed her(duh!) and then afterward he felt really bad about it and tried to make up for it. That's what he means by the golden chain and silver spade. That's the tragic part of the song. He tries so hard to make things work after she's dead, when he didn't do enough while she was alive. I think he still blames her though, the chorus is of him begging her not to act so damn proud. |

He died of cancer in I think '68 or '69. This was a song he wrote while dealing with being sick and remenising about his life. Favorite line in this song is "But you sure gonna miss me when I'm dead and gone" It got reused on a Jay-Z song from his Black Album. |

This is the version he did after his "rediscovery" in the '60's. The combination of his hollow sounding guitar and ultra high tenor/falseto voice made for a very errie style, that will stick with you. Even if you son't like the genre, style, theme or artist, you'll find that this tune, and many others on his CD "Blues from the Delta" will dig themselves into the back of your mind. |

The match/lighter, flame/fire part is merely a foil for the Mexico part. You are supposed to ask yourself, if she always has/does more then him, and he is bound for Mexico and bound to let her go, then where is she going? Of course, non of you thought of that. |

I beilve Andre 3000 said that he wrote this song about the difficulties of romace and relationships. However, realizing the beat was so good he figured people would dance to it even though it's not putting romance and such in a good light, hence the line: "ya'll don't wanna hear me, ya'll just wanna dance." |

This song is great because it manages to be angry, sad and hopeful all in the same verse. Angry at what this Sancho has done to him, sad for what he lost but hopeful that he will find a hiena of his own all his soul has to do is wait. |
