This song is awesome. I am not goimg to get into what I think it is about, but i love the bittersweet aspect of it. It is about a perfect day but it almost has a meloncholly tone to it. Really great stuff! |

ok ramfan sorry to burst you bubble but white room is definately not about clapton checking into rehab etc.... clapton was not even near confronting his problems until way after cream, however the part about the song being written about cocaine... all i can say is possibly... who knows but definately not about the rehab/padded walls thing |

it is kinda funny to read all of these posts and see people super-over-analyzing these lyrics... bringing things like acts of god, drug addiction, etc into every single lyric that is sung by james. why can't this song just be about the insane adrenaline rush of driving a muscle car? i mean i know for a fact that james along with the rest of the band are into living life fast and that addicition includes driving bad ass cars... so maybe, just maybe this song is about that!;) |

umm i think this song can not only be about a break up up but also about losing anyone... either through seperation, meaning distance, or even losing someone through death. now that is not all that this song means either. if you look into claptons life history you will see that he has not had the easiest life. this song is really the story of his diffcult life... lines like "And about half a mile to the downtown bar
That I ran from in disgrace." among other lines all have reference to claptons life... that is all for now i know i will have more.

i completely agree with wolsey. this song is definately about the narrator reliving something bad that has happened in the past and he is turning to his mother.... if you really wanted to get out there with this whole thing one could say the "hero of the day" is his mother and that this song is and ode to her |
