Anberlin – Breathe Lyrics 17 years ago
@sweetsongs, Truth be told, I've felt like the music told more of a story in previous albums. On New Surrender, I feel like the lyrics are telling a story, but the music feels a little more manufactured. I would tend to agree with fatchicksean09 that New Surrender is much lighter than Cities.

Matthew Good Band – Generation X-Wing Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the thoughts on this song so far have taken parts of the song as obviously as possible, and ignored other parts.

Certainly there stands something to be said for not feeling like you're good enough, but the line about being a loser comes on the heals of "the man you loved devoured". It seems a sort of testament to not being who he once was.

Then there's the blatant cry for help of "help me up with a pair of wings..."

This song is so much more than self-pity and self-loathing. Certainly, there may be elements of those feelings, but it seems like a self-reflection that runs much deeper than that.

I'd love to hear Matt's comments on this song though.

Evans Blue – Beg Lyrics 18 years ago
The main thing that makes me think it's about two different girls is the transition from "she" to "you" as though he's telling someone (whoever "you" represents) about "her".

Anberlin – Dismantle. Repair. Lyrics 19 years ago
"I am the patron saint of lost causes" and the "Give me time to prove..." verse. excellent! I can't wait for the rest of cities.

There's something about this song that I really relate to. Maybe it's just my interpretation though... Being completely honest with someone, and that person figuring you out for who you are. Feeling like you're moving in the right direction, only to feel completely lost four weeks later. Trying to escape the feeling, but holding on out of sheer hope... I love it.

Snow Patrol – Hands Open Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with visualpro on the whole "your sweet smile remembers you" line. You put it better than I could have. Thinking about it that way, it seems to fit with the rest of the song too - "I wanna hear you laugh like you really mean it" and so on.

Impressive song. Thumbs up.

There's a Live version available that was released in mp3 format as an extra on some (all?) versions of Mad Season

3 Doors Down – Let Me Go Lyrics 21 years ago
I can actually see alot of different possible interpretations for this song - I agree with all of the above thoughts, but also think it might be a sort of fantasy he's living in -

"In this world there's real and make-believe
This seems real to me

You love me, but you don't know who I am..."

Sort of like saying, you love me even though you haven't met me. Then: "I dream we head to what I hope for
And I turn my back on loving you..." Is saying there is something standing in the way of following his heart.

Of course, it's probably not the original sentiment behind the song, but an interesting way to look at it.

Stroke 9 – 100 Girls Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't know if I agree with ya slud, While it might be about all these girls he's liked or even loved, he also says, "100 girls or maybe more have left me passed out on the floor" so maybe they left him. "Caroline from Amersterdam..." Or maybe it's a mix.

Maybe he's just gloating :).

Staind – How About You Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree that it almost seems like a discussion. Something that Aaron is personally saying to someone.

I guess it's sort of like saying, Life isn't easy. We all have to sacrifice. but there's more to life than riches and material belongings.

It seems that he sees a good friend making decisions that he doesn't agree with, and he want's to point it out. Don't be a follower and do things just because everyone else is, don't take advantage of people. But it almost seems as though he doesn't want this person to make the same mistakes he made. "I sold my sould to get here, How bout you?"

easily my favorite song of the CD

The Exies – My Goddess Lyrics 21 years ago
For a while I felt this song pretty much summed up my relationship with my ex. Not so much the case any more, but still an awesome song any time you need to get pumped up.

"the pieces worth keeping, the start of the ending
gets deeper, and deeper and deeper"
few other errors - check www.theexies.com for official lyrics

Awesome song though, I feel a connection with the song's message, not to mention it's got an awesome beat.

This song is from before the time of Matthew Good Band - I believe it was released as just Matthew Good as the artist on a demo CD - Euphony in 1995

Matthew Good Band – Running For Home Lyrics 23 years ago
This is a truly beautiful song. One of my favorites off of Beautiful Midnight.

According to a MGB fansite, "Running For Home was written by Matt about disintigrating relationships with people he knew due to the band's increasing popularity"

The Goo Goo Dolls – Here Is Gone Lyrics 23 years ago
I heard this song on a Lansing radio station. The DJ had this to say; "John said in an interview that this song was about being in a casual relationship with someone, but wanting something more."
