Bob Dylan – Knockin' on Heaven's Door Lyrics 21 years ago
Why do Bob Dylan fans have to relate everything to an anti-war statement? Dylan himself said that he stopped writting anti-war and protest songs after his first four or so albums. This is a well written song that can take on so many feelings and meanings.

I read this song and make a very different and personal connection then others. Anyone who says there is one meaning to a song needs to sit down and not just go through the notions, but really experience the large number of mixed emotions written into every song.

To my this song is talking about how no matter hard I try to please my parents I will never be the apple of their eyes because I am not the ideal christian they want me to be. It may sound cheesy to you all, but the first verse and its talk of badges and darkness represent vengeful siner I am. The darkess represents my journey to the valley of shadows and death.

The second stanza, for some strange reason, sums up my struggle with drugs, and more importantly my Meth usage.
"Mama please put my guns in the ground"
A common way to dispose of a chryspipe is to burry it, so it can not be used as evidence.
"I can't shoot them anymore."
A simple line that explains itself.
"That long black cloud is commin down"
This means so many different things to me. One of the reasons people smoke meth is because of the cloud they hit from the pipes. It sometimes means comming down and realizing there is another universe besides my own private speed land. Another way it strikes me is the guilt and punishment placed on me by my parents excpectations and beliefs. No matter what, if I don't become who they want me to be, I'll always be "Knockin on heaven's door."

Again, i don't think that's what the song is about, but I felt led to show you guys my personal connection to the song. Who can say one interpritations are incorect? It's a good song that has ad will be able to stir up all sorts of different feelings.

Lagwagon – Alison's Disease Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the key is in the title. To me this song has always been about the generational gaps. the "Disease" part of the title represents te attitudes and ideas of the youth, and people see youth as a disease to their lives. In the end Alison conforms and gives into demons which could be the conformity or simply the state of being grown up. When Alison finaly grew up, she was no longer the girl people like the singer of the song knew her to be. Other people could be right though.

NOFX – Scavenger Type Lyrics 21 years ago
This song may sound ugly at first but you warm up to it and like it alot. I am gonna give you my take on this song. I bet most of you people think it's about a homeless person, but it's really about an alcoholic. It is all there.
"Gigin alone at the bottom of the hill
Our protagonist named Bill
Sets his sights on an anchor steam pint
All he needs is thirteen quarters"

Bill is what we like to call a free-loader and he spends the little money gets on alcohol.

"California redemption provides him with his rent
Room and board inside a fifth of comfort" is a reference to him getting aid from the government and then spending it on a "a fifth." Then he dies a no body. Maybe a little depressing, but I find it very easy to relate to.

Duh, it's about a girl that Fat Mike used to fuck around with when he was 9 and then she becomes a porn star, so he buys the porn to get off on her and support her life of 50k a year.

Gang Starr – Moment of Truth Lyrics 21 years ago
Gang Starr is the sickest hip hop act ever, and few people know how much stuff the two boys produce. I wish I lived in New York so I could hear their "Three minutes of every rap radio hour"
