Tori Amos – Tear In Your Hand Lyrics 22 years ago
I have to say that the tear in his hand has got to be one of her tears. and i agree with papillon. She obviously feels he hasn't seen all of her, and that maybe she embodies some of the same characteristics he is being drawn to the new girl through, that he has just never explored and discovered those same qualities in her.

Tori Amos – Crucify Lyrics 22 years ago
I totally agree with happyphantom, anytime I hear a song with those sort of undertones, I am drawn to that aspect of its meaning. It seems like a reference to condemnations brought on by religious expectations.

Sarah McLachlan – Fear Lyrics 22 years ago
i love it when they used this song in Forces of Nature, at the part when Sandra Bullock was going back to her child, knowing she was going empty handed. The song really seemed to fit there. This is an awesome song, about the fear of not having your feelings and the effort you put into a relationship reciprocated.

Sarah McLachlan – Mary Lyrics 22 years ago
I can understand how it would sound that way, but why would she write a song about that? I just think the idea is a bit far off. I can't help but think that this song is in reference to the virgin mary, especially in the lines:

Take her hand
she will lead you through the fire
give you back hope
and hope that you won't take too much
respecting what is left
she cradled us
she held us in her arms
unselfish in her suffering she could not understand
that no one seemed to have the time
to cherish what was given

And if it is indeed about the Virgin, the first line is expressing the struggle of the difficulty of bearing the son of God. I know this might sound nuts, but that's always what i've thought of this song.

Sarah McLachlan – Wait Lyrics 22 years ago
I am shocked that no one has commented on this gorgeous, meaningful song. It basically sounds like it's about a relationship where both people had a lot of dreams and those dreams have been shattered, and now she is jaded, but she wishes she could go back to innocence.

Sarah McLachlan – Elsewhere Lyrics 22 years ago
I feel this song is about coming to terms with being "different" and exploring your individuality on all levels, without allowing the opinions of others effect your opinion of yourself.

"I believe there is a
distance I have wandered
to touch upon the years of
reaching out and reaching in
holding out holding in"

It's as if she's been waiting a long time to make the transition between who others wanted her to be, and who she knew she was. and although i really have no idea of sarah's sexuality, other than having read somewhere that she was married to her drummer, I can't shake the suspicion that this one could be in reference to a same sex relationship, seeing how there has to be a connection between the message of the song , and the second verse, which is apparently about some sort of physical aspect of love. Either way, this is an excellent song about breaking free, I love it. :-)
