Reading about elliot smith makes me sad. It is unfortunate that people like him can't be appreciated until they die. I first heard about him recently after he died (in 2003 just so you know it wasn't recently). Weezer will be known. I feel like I can also relate to this song... and weezer is pop, anyone who disagrees is simply wrong. They have been played on pop radio for a long time. that doesn't make them bad. what if elliot smith had been pop? would a lot of people hate him to for reasons other than his music? |

i actually believe it is because they choose to be underground, that is part of their appeal. everyone knows how "cool" it is to find a band other people haven't heard of that is actually good. plus the band's whole stance on coporations and selling out... at least i believe that is the reason |

ok what i think this song is about... i do not think this songs lyrics are not just silly lyrics that don't have any meaning... i believe that this is a sad song about how tricky life can be... i think the beat gives away it is a sad song and he expresses not knowing what to think about the world with all the anti-thesis "the butterflies are passive aggressive" butterflies are sweet not passive aggressive "the only kids that are real are the ones that kid themselves" kids that don't look at reality are real? it starts stopping when it stops stopping? but then ben also believes as complicated and confusing as life is we gotta keep on going through it all, hence the upbeat beat at the end and "they’re steppin’ on
his gold terrain he’s movin’ on with bold refrain his blatently old campaign is movin’ on " life is complicated and hard but we gotta keep on going... sounds like ben kweller. |
