| The Dandy Warhols – (Tony, This Song Is Called) Lou Weed Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| An homage to the Velvet Underground. The Dandies do a good job of imitating the VU's musical style. | |
| The Dandy Warhols – Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The filming of the documentary started in '95, no? About the time the Dandys came out with Dandys Rule: OK and BJM came out with Methodrone. I highly doubt this song is about Anton Newcombe's relationship with Courtney Taylor. They were friends at the time of this song. Taylor even showed the song to Newcombe in the movie to ask his opinion of it. They only started having a fall-out AFTER this song became a big hit. | |

Also, I'd like to point out how ironic it is that Taylor sings A long time ago We used to be friends But I haven't thought of you lately at all You can't write a song about someone you "haven't thought of lately at all." |

| If this isn't about the BJM, I'd be very susprised. | |
| Iggy Pop – Lust For Life Lyrics | 22 years ago |

These lyrics are way off (they ARE pretty hard to interperet). I have the Lust for Life CD and they have the lyrics in the booklet, so I figure I'll write em out, since these are a bit off: here comes johnny yen again with liquor and drugs and the flesh machine he's gonna do another striptease hey man where'd you get that lotion? i been hurting since i bought the gimmick called love yeah something called love that's like hypnotizing chickens well i am just a moder guy of course i've had it in the ear before 'cause of a lust for life 'cause of a lust for life i'm worth a million in prizes with my torture film drive a g.t.o wear a uniform all on a government loan i'm worth a million in prizes yeah i'm through with sleeping on the sidewalk no more beating my brains no more beating my brains with liquor and drugs with liquor and drugs well i am just a modern guy of course i've had it in the ear before 'cause of a lust for life 'cause of a lust for life i got a lust for life got a lust for life oh a lust for life oh a lust for life a lust for life i got a lust for life i got a lust for life well i am just a modern guy of course i've had it in the ear before 'cause of a lust for life 'cause of a lust for life 'cause of a lust for life well here comes johnny yen again with the liquor and drugs and the flesh machine i know he's gonna do another striptease hey man where'd you get that lotion? your skin starts itching once you buy the gimmick about something called love oh love love love that's like hypnotizing chickens well i am just a modern guy of course i've had it in the ear before 'cause of a lust for life 'cause of a lust for life got a lust for life yeah a lust for life i got a lust for life oh a lust for life yeah a lust for life i got a lust for life a lust for life lust for life lust for life... |

| The Smiths – Handsome Devil Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
How could there be no posts about one of the Smiths' most controversial songs? It's not on any albums, but you can find the BBC version on Kazaa. The Smiths got into a lot of trouble over this one because of apparent allusions to statutory rape of boys. There are certainly some lines that would prove this to be true: A boy in the bush is worth two in the hand "I think I can help you get through your exams" "And when we're in your scholarly room who will swallow whom?" "There's more to life than books you know but not much more" However, I doubt the Smiths would write a song so blatantly about something I doubt they would do in the first place. Your opinions? |
