I love how tongue-in-cheek this one is, Claypool really takes a stab at modern music. Way to stand up, Les! He might even be talking about rap and hip-hop seeing as to how much they recycle from older works and after the song becomes popular, most think that he/she was the originator of the song! |

A quick note, this is the first song Les wrote for Primus back in 1984, so this song is not about the Gulf War, as Python thought. This was before he got any of his super-nice Carl Thompson basses also. The lyric "On the command of men wearing money belts/to buy mistresses sleek animal pelts" I believe alludes to how the rich corporations/aristocrats and politicians are separated from the theatre of war and send in the next crop of clueless youth to fight wars. "Dressed up sharp in suits of green and placed upon the war machine" has got to be the most powerful of Claypool's lyrics cause it's got real punch to it. |
