i think that this song is about suicide "A day in which the sun will take her artificial light, Her light" I think this line represents her soul being granted up into the heavens (towards the sun). The fact that she regards it as artificial symbolises that she is not meant 2 b there. Also the reasons 2 survive part symbolises suicide. But in this song vanessa isnt talkin about herself, she is talking about some1 else she knew, n the whole Don't pretend to hold it in, just let it out. Don't pretend to hold it in, just push it out. Don't you try to hold it in, just let it out Don't you try to hold it in, hold it in is her offering advice 2 those who contemplate suicide. She is basically saying get help. Even tho these points stated here lean towards the possibility that it is of suicide, many other relevant points have been made by others also, so am still not sure. Mayb we should ask vanessa carlton herself??? |
