| Dave Matthews Band – Crash Into Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Regarding the previously discussed alleged S&M references, I refer you to a line from "When the World Ends": "I'm going to tie you up like a baby in a carriage car". Also, the "king of the castle" thing. Settled as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and it's a fun song too. |

| Oh, BTW, this song owns. Especially the way it cuts off abruptly - the world ends. | |

This song is most certainly not Christian. By the way, it's funny how there's discussion on "Crash Into Me" about S&M, when it's right in this song: "I'm going to tie you up like a baby in a carriage car". To use a Christian analogy: Mote, meet beam. |

| David Gray – Say Hello Wave Goodbye Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"You were the owner of the lost and found" should be "You were a runaround, a lost and found". "Take them off in my face" should be "Take a look in my face". "This is one scene that started to replace my world" should be "This is one scene that's going to repave my way" (at least I think it says "repave"). "who's not gonna cheapen sale" sounds more like "who's not going cheap for sale". This is a cover of a song by Soft Cell. The lyrics at the end sound like: Say goodbye Say goodbye We were born for the wind Who are we to understand We were born before the wind Say goodbye In the rain hail sleet and snow Say goodbye Get on the train, train, train Say goodbye Say goodbye Say goodbye Say goodbye In the wind and the rain my darling Say goodbye In the wind and the rain my darling The line "We were born before the wind" is from Van Morrison, "Into the Mystic." The perfect ending (or second-last song) to White Ladder, and one of its 3 best songs. |

| Dave Matthews Band – Lie in Our Graves Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Did anyone else notice the people in the background during the great riff? I think they represent people going about their lives and enjoying themselves. | |
| David Gray – Late Night Radio Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| More specifically, I see it as being about getting out of a home-place that's become a prison, and "Seeing The World"® | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Pig Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I interpret "Why concern we cannot see/ But no reason to abandon it" as: We don't, and maybe can't, know the answers to any of the Big Questions (God, afterlife, etc.) So don't worry too much, but at the same time, don't ignore - "abandon" - thinking about them. [/opinion cents=2] |

| David Gray – Faster, Sooner, Now Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think this is the song on "Sell Sell Sell" most in the spirit of the liner notes (*you* figure out what I mean.) But why does "hoods" sound like "cans" in the song? | |
| David Gray – Last Boat to America Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song greatly reminds me of Freedom (both in the sound and content), but more emotional. Am I on to something? | |
| U2 – Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Good song, especially the opening. The last guitar note before the vocals may be one of the best chords ever played. As to meaning, I can see this meaning a lot of things - in my case, unrequited love. The breakup thing does fit most perfectly, but it's overall generically emotional. | |
| David Gray – Easy Way to Cry Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Probably my favorite song. I can't figure out, though, whether it's about parting occuring now ("and as I watch you leave" and "watching you go") or in the future ("and come that day"). | |
| David Gray – December Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Like '#41', this song is meaningless on the surface but clearly conceals something profound. All I can think of is to do a point-by-point (much of which is obvious): "All my tears will dry away": this unhappiness will be over "Words don't bother me no more" "Black money" suggests ill-gotten gains to me, and "falling to the floor" release thereof. "Flags out on the balcony" probably symbolizes something in reality. "Oh my mind/ What happened to the time": what has changed? "All my house got blown away": Something bad. "Stations in the neon light": ? "Your body strange as dynamite": Powerful, inexplicable effects of sexuality. "Killers underneath our skins": The 'inner beast'? "Black mirrors, black hyacinths": Powerful imagery, but ? "Oh my eyes/ What happened to the skies": As above. Having gone through it like this, it actually doesn't sound like any other David Gray song I know of. |

| David Gray – Caroline Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I bet it has something to do with "the final war"... whatever that is. | |
| New Radicals – You Get What You Give Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
why is this their only hit? it's good, but so are a lot of others. and wasn't this in an adam sandler movie? 'big daddy' or something like that? or did cosmic rays damage my brain? |
|
| New Radicals – Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i'm not sure there are 'real' lyrics. i think very few actual words are sung. | |
| New Radicals – Flowers Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| why does this song have no comments? it's just so damn good. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Pig Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
'Look Here are we On this starry night staring into space And I must say I feel as small as dust Lying down here What point could there be troubling Head down wondering what will become of me Why concern we cannot see But no reason to abandon it Time is short but that's all right Maybe I'll go in the middle of the night Take your hands from your eyes, my love Everything must end some time' whoa. whoa. i like 'everything' better than 'all good things'. |
|
| Dave Matthews Band – Christmas Song Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i don't think it's saying that jesus failed, but that he did the best he could. however, he sees that his message of peace will be mangled into the Crusades and Jerry Falwell. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Satellite Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| the 'stoned and thinking about satellites' idea is pretty believable, but if this song actually means anything i think it's referring to our media-consumer culture. even if it's meaningless, it's pretty. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – For the Beauty of Wynona Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| is this on any album? | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Pantala Naga Pampa Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| What language are you using? Pantala is Dutch for 'pants', naga Dutch for 'work out', and pampa Spanish for 'prairie'. Am I missing something? | |
| Dave Matthews Band – The Dreaming Tree Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| this song is mostly about the loss of innocence... but 'this thing i do/i do not deny it', seems to me to be about anger and revenge at those who have been cruel to you. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Say Goodbye (Album version) Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| a forbidden affair... not necessarily adultery, maybe societally 'wrong'. or a hidden love that must be expressed but can't be. | |
| U2 – Kite Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| It's about the death or parting of a loved one, but at the same time he knows that they will see each other again (in another life?) | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Ants Marching Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| I doubt it's about drugs, and I'm pretty sure if so it's not from personal experience. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – The Space Between Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| Re Cool Dandy saying it's sad (comment #7): of course, this is a very bittersweet song. Maybe that's why it's so good. | |
