| Neil Finn – Turn And Run Lyrics

I think that a great deal of this album is about married life. It has to do with an attachment that can not be broken, but I can't tell who the characters are in the song. Well, maybe I'll figure it out eventually. |

It's not that he's scared of commitment. He simply does not want to be married purely on the basis of superficial attraction or romance. All that wining and dining is nice, but, if that's all there is, he wants no part of it. |

It's take from the Writtings of Baha'u'llah. "Intone, o My servant, the verses that have been receieved by thee as intoned by them who have drawn nigh unto Him..."
Beautiful song. |

Good point. That "all of those young lives betrayed" by folks in Britain addicted to heroin in 1984. Sting himself did some interesting stuff after the first album. Read his autobiography, Broken Music. |

I don't know if he's saying that nuclear energy is bad or that fossil fuels are bad. It's a great song, like all the others on the album, i just can't figure it out. |

Sad, bittersweet, love, betrayal, loneliness, and determination. How could it not be a good song? Beyond that, Neil knows what it's about, but perhaps not many others. |

If you listen to Neil Finn's recent work, you realize that there is a great deal maturity that he displays on his later work. This doesn't make his previous work immature, but it provides prospective, and hope. Maybe there are different questions, and not an endless repitition of the ones that are found on these albums. |

I could never really tease apart what this song was about, but I love it. There are themes of being abandoned. Kaatrien may be on to something. It's not a happy song. |

"The guilty get no sleep..." I love that part. Probably doesn't mean much to people who don't mind getting laid by anything on legs, but for any one else, it kind of epitomizes the struggle between what we want and doing what we feel is right. |

Ok, not the most lyrics ever written, but a really good song. Beautifully descriptive of emotionally unstable relationships. It's like a bad relationship in a box. It's great. |

Mr. Bean might want to listen to "Misunderstood." I think it's a great song, but how can you not laugh at it. There is the corny, "And, 'You're only given one SHaaat.'" I, at one point, would have sold my soul to be able to play the guitar solo in here. All the technical genius without the wankery that afflicts other rock solos. |

At first I thought that this song was a vieled diatribe against the radical and violent clergies in conteporary Islam. The three religious leaders would be Koresh (who, I think, did take multiple, very young, wives), Jim Jones, and the Heaven's Gate guy. These are, at least, the three faces that they put up on the projection screen at their concert in Denver (this was their encore... it rocked). |

I like this last interpretation. It seems to be in keeping with theme of spiritual disconnection that runs through the rest of the album. From Blind Faith, even to Disappear, the songs seem to be about, to quote Paul Tillich, "The spiritual situation in our technical society." |

Just in case you don't know, "Abra los ojos" means... take a guess... that's right! "Open your eyes." It scared the daylights out of me the first time I heard it. |

Ah.. the sweet, sweet taste of co-dependency. If you've ever been in or close to a co-dependent relationship (very likely) and recognized it as such (not very likely) then this song holds no ambiguity at all. This is co-dependency at its core. I recognize these attitudes in myself and try not to exhibit them. This song is a good reminder to let go. |

First song I heard by A23. Rocked to it many times. A great comfprt. Explains a lot about Tom, in its own way. |

It's strange that no one has commented on this song. It is the one that I use to introduce my friends to Assemblage 23, and for some of them the only song they like by A23. Depressing for something that should be so cheerful, but still beautiful |

Since I can only think of the most physically intimate relationships that I've had when I listen to this song, I think that's what it's about. Beyond that though, it gets juxtaposed against "Into temptation" and "Better be home soon." I just thought that was interesting. Oh, and I can think of at least one obvious significance for being on one's knees ;). |

Ok, for one thing: It's astronauts... in space.. reading the bible... to techno. contender on those bases for the coolest song ever. For the next, my interpretation. The author alludes to the acceptance of his greivous faults, or accepting the abyss equals heresy. And he states that perchance God will him from his own faults, although that has not happened yet. Coming to terms with a darker side is difficult. |

| Splashdown – The Archer Lyrics

The only thing that I can think about this is that it is metaphoric to the narrator falling in love, the archer being equated with Cupid. Could be totally off base.
