I don't like to comment on these things that much because I merely like to look at other people interpretations. If they don't match mine I simply read on; a lot of the time I get new ideas. I'm not a big LZ fan or anything I was simply curious and wanted to see some lyrics. I wasn't planning on commenting, because I have nothing to comment on. I'm not as knowledgable about this song. Upon reading further on I saw something unrelated to LZ, and finally I was inclined to say something...."Emily Dickenson is a glorified moron." Who the FUCK are you? Where's your Ph.d in literature? where are your published poems/proses? Prove to me she is doesnt deserve praise. Read her poems and understand them. Right now your a select few that dont appraciate the work of brilliance in its multiple forms.
Now back to LZ so I dont cause a complete change in subject From reading just these posts I've admired the lyrics of this song. I disagree with any connection to Lord of the Rings, not saying it is impossible, but it is as feasable as saying it is connected to the Yellow Brick Road because it has a golden path in it. I lean more to the side of a biblical reference as explained earlier by AnferFuckinE[y], of course some other comments are probably good too, I just didnt have time to read all these...and I doubt I ever will. |

| Dispatch – The General Lyrics

i don't know that much about dispatch, but it seems to me that the general has finally discovered his life of fighting his awards and battle scares, have accomplished little but get young men killed. Now when the general prepares to fight he is pleading with the men not to follow the same path he has taken in life. He sees that "this fight" the fight he has been fighting is not worth fighting. He has now picked the more worthy cause of disuading those men from putting themselves in harms way or make the same mistake in his life that he has. He wants the men to go now and cleans themselves of the killing and sins of his way of life and start again, begin a life of living.
To save the men he must continue on without them and perish in the battle field ending the cycle.
There are the Jesus allusions such as sacrifice for ones followers and offering forgiveness, but I think it is deeper than that. |

| A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics

i doubt this has any significance but in Judith it says "He did it all FOR you" not "to" you..."to" has a more negative conotation while "for" generally implies a more positive meaning (atleast thats what i believe)...if he wanted to show true anti-religous feelings "to" would seem like a better choice of words, plz correct me if im wrong...i was just pondering on that one line for a while |
