John Fogerty – The Old Man Down The Road Lyrics 19 years ago
He's talking about death I think. Growing old then dying type of metaphor with The Old Man is Down the Road lyric like Your on your way, be scared

Neil Young – Be The Rain Lyrics 19 years ago
Be the river as it rolls along
(It has three-eyed fish and it's smelling strong)

Probably a reference to the Simpsons Three-Eyed Fish.

The Doors – Stoned Immaculate Lyrics 20 years ago
Texas Radio he refers to is the HF radio stations you could here broadcasting from Mexico.

I tell you this,
No eternal reward will forgive is now
For wasting the dawn.

Well what's the eternal reward? To him death I would say. But maybe he's just talking about the after life and how you won't be rewarded for wasting life (the dawn)

I could probably figure out the rest but I don't feel like putting the time and effort. But that's how you have think with his writing, he likes a lot of metaphors I think.

The Doors – The Soft Parade Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah most likely it was influence.

Here's my best guest at what a Soft Parade is

Soft + Parade = Life, Soft because it's so suttle and a parade because it just passes by. Basically I think because if you live life like he did then it's like a Soft Parade.

The Doors – The Wasp (Texas Radio and the Big Beat) Lyrics 20 years ago
It might be about that too but it's also about the High Frenquency Radio stations broadcasting from Mexico playing 'illegal' music like the wolfman.

The Doors – Horse Latitudes Lyrics 20 years ago
Back in the 1800's when the ships got in to the horse lattitudes which is inbetween the tropics there is very little wind and it is very hot. So the ships would throw the heaviest item overboard. Horses were one of them and Morrison probably picked that because of some deeper meaning with war or such because they are mammals and we can relate to horses on that level.

The Animals – House Of The Rising Sun Lyrics 21 years ago
Now doesn't the House of the Rising Sun sound anything like a Gambling house too? I'm avid poker player and when read the lyrics, "And the only time he'll be satisfied Is when he's on a drunk." I see that he plays poker all the time (maybe for a living) and when that drunk sits down he's a happy man because now he can make a living again. Hence "my father was a gambling man." I don't know for sure just my opinion.
