Lyric is not about analysing word by word, I can asure you, a very wise men told me, when he tought me to see plays correctly. Lyric is about pictures. Just think of a movie that is going on and do this for every line. "I saw a film today oh boy". Its the best, when you hear the song while making your little movie in your head: Seeing John in a come down room, every small, tiny 60s tv-set and on it a war, dying people, the english army. And how he looks at it, then seeing the other people, the neighbors that turn away disgustedly. And again him, who cannot turn away, cause something makes him want to see it. You can try it with any song. Lucy in the sky would be perfect. Try to see the pictures and let them speak to you and you'll see more than just the words can tell you. A little trick. |

I read about headache? Id rather think of heartache. And thats worse anyway, as you can not just take an asperin and the world becomes sunny again. Watch out for the video, it will make you cry or give you proove that you are missing a heart. |

Im not sure, but I think lyric is more about pictures than about analysing word by word. Every verse has its picture. You have to see them before your inner-eye. Just try out. Its mainly very absurd, just think of a movie showing the words he is singing, begining with the gold teeth, then you see his whole mouth and you see him murmuring a curse for this town, which you should see exactly after his lips formed the words. Go on doing this, best of all, when you hear the song. There are so many interpretations for songs by that band, as they are so implicating. Just one more statement to one line "turn me back into the pet, I was when we met": Its about facing love for the first time, being left and knowing that something like this will never come back, so the wish occures not to know about it at all, being a pet, a child, someone who doesnt know, what he will never have again. That leads to the line "Im looking in on the good life I might be doomed never to find". But this may all be wrong, as everything else written here may be wrong. I still had great pleasure in reading it and if you want to, be free to try the picture-methode I explained above. |

Its a song about being in Amerika with some parodies for Oasis. Oasis was trying hard to da well in the states, but they never were accepted. I thinks thats what "Standing in a distance, but I dont try to make her mine" means. As blur are from europe they see the big problems america has better than the US people. The song is great again. First of all they have to re-elect the president and then with Gore at the top of the nation they will have to take care that things change a lot. No capital punishment. No nigger-killing in texas.
