About "round round round"-- "rounding" is a kind of extended meditation done at Transcendental Meditation retreats. I think that is what Prudence Farrow is doing, rather than coming out to play. My impression of this song is that John is goofing off, while Prudence is being serious about her meditation, and he wants her to come play with her. She was really quite fantastically beautiful. |

I've always thought this song is about Mararishi Mahesh Yogi (the founder of Transcendental Meditation), and, through him, about being a wise man, a buddha, a transcendenthuman being. |

Jai Guru Dev is a phrase Transcendental Meditators use to greet each other, or in other ways the way a Christian might say, "Praise God." Guru Dev was the teacher of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of TM. If you go to a TM center, there's always a picture of him in a prominent place.
I think this is a song about meditation, about the experience of meditation. |
