I never thought I'd die alone (He didn't think he was depressed) I laughed the loudest who'd have known? (Life used to be good, and no one expected his suicide) I traced the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all (He thought his life sucked but really he just needed to "plug it in" or take action) I took my time, I hurried up (It took awhile for him to get depressed but once he did he became extremely depressed, extremely quickly) The choice was mine I didn't think enough (It was his choice to kill himself, but tragic because it wasn't his only choice) I'm too depressed to go on (...he wants to kill himself) You'll be sorry when I'm gone (He is sorta doing it to show people that tortured him 'look what you did' so that they can experience the pain that he did) I never conquered, rarely came (He was never the hero and he rarely even tried) 16 just held such better days (...he used to be happy) Days when I still felt alive (days when he still wanted to live and when life was worth living--not just breathing) We couldn't wait to get outside (he wanted to live--see things and do stuff) The world was wide, too late to try (?there was lots of other stuff that he hadn't done--but he feels like he's ruined any chance of that) The tour was over, We'd survived (?the exciting part of his life seems like its over--he feels like all there is left to do is die) I couldnt wait til I got home (Before he loved himself and loved just hanging out with himself) To pass the time in my room alone (same) ...Another six months I'll be unknown (His life doesn't matter, people will get over his death) ...Remember the time I spilled the cup Of apple juice in the hall (All he can remember is all the stupid mistakes he's made in his life) Please tell mom this is not her fault (He doesn't want the people he loves to be guilty, but this is just what he feels he wants)... So that's my analysis..I don't get everything, its very superficial analysis to go line by line and it's not all concrete but ya. I think the ending is just to get across that their message is that there WILL be better days and so people don't mix up the message they're sending. Also I heard/read/i don't remember that one of them saw a short report on the news about a boy named Adam who killed himself (and doesn't escape it like the boy in the song). It touched them and they made a song of it, giving meaning to Adam's life. I dunno but I love this song and I really love old blink songs and their new ones are pretty good too, I don't think that they "sold out" or are "posers" I just prefer their old style and I think that they just changed. I think its ridiculous that people are fighting over whether they like Blink or not... |

Authorial intent can often be taken farther because sometimes you write or dream something and you don't know what it means and different perceptions can enlighten you.
