Also, I don't think about it's a fear of rape or being physically harmed, but frustration at being in a silencing environment when those who should be standing up for you don't. |

I like the way she sings "I stopped talking an hour ago." It seems to perfectly capture that moment where one random thought starts repeating itself over and over in your head. I can feel myself in a corner of the room thinking that when she sings that line. |

| The Faint – Worked Up So Sexual Lyrics

i *am* a stripper and yeah, this song is catchy as fuck but a little insulting.
every woman working at my club does it so she can work very few hours and still make a decent living. lines like "would she miss a job that's sexual?" imply that we are all sex-crazed animals or something and we do this to get off. no, she wouldnt necessarily miss it--its just a job. and the line "is it good to get these men worked up so sexual?" irritates me because once again women take the blame for men's sexual feelings. [reminiscent of blaming the victim for what she was wearing at the time of a rape.]
"older dancers gag at what new talent seems to mean. smaller tits and younger limbs can cause a fit of rivalry." to me this line belies the writers belief that women cant be involved in something together without being shallow, competitive and catty.
id love to hear other sex workers and feminists weigh in on this. |
