This album reads as a drama, with a more or less continuous story. If you want to understand one song's lyrics, it is advisable to read them all. Without ranting too much about what I think the songs mean, I will at least say that what strikes me about the album is that the feelings arise so naturally from the lyrics. You can see inside the characters' minds and understand their feelings without anything more than subtle words and cues to go by. To me, these are not lyrics; they are poetry. |

It is interesting that there are so many comments here about sexuality etc. I wonder how sex became so mainstream in the US in the first place. Its as if sex is completely separate from love. I have never heard anyone look at Britney Spears, or any other "sexy" actress and say that they could love her......though on many occasions ppl have said that they would have sex with her. Its a social perversion in my opinion and I think that our mainstream culture is forcing people to miss out on so much by attaching sexuality directly to physical appearance. I know girls that have a very hard time developing a sincere relationship just because they are pretty. As for the song, I can't think of an objection to a relationship developing through emails(probably long distance). It is actually almost certain that you will learn more about each other by writing to each other than by going to dinner and a movie. Dating in the US seems to me to be so casual that it contributes very little to the relationship. I would probably be willing to respect anyone that can handle a relationship by email.....whether it sounds corny or not it would be a great challenge and learning experience for any couple. I'm not a die-hard conservative or anything.....i just think that so many people are not living up to their potential......it could be why more than 50% of American marriages end in divorce....its something to consider;) |

this has got to be the saddest song that i have ever heard in my life...a man finds someone he really loves and the love triggers a pent-up catharsis leading to such ultimate loss....the concept itself is maddening |
