Call me crazy, but isn't music supposed to be a love thing? Unite the masses? I appreciate Andrew WK's efforts and ability to kick a substantial amount of accumulative ass. And stating the fact that you don't like an artist is fine, just don't get fucking elitist on someone's ass or make assumptions about an artist rather than look up the straight facts. Oh yeah, and this so-named "emo" genre you speak of.. doesn't suck (in my opinion). It's just contoversially labeled. If you know what I mean. |

Hey bright eyes, holding you close but you seem so far. That could go either way. They either are physically seperated. Or, together in an embrace or what have you, but he can sense the distance. I take the latter of the two. Everything he wants is right in front of him, but he doesn't take advantage of it while he has the chance. Laziness, it consumes you. There's nothing I can say, there's nothing I can do. He's probably accustomed to failure. But I like the 'hey bright eyes..' lyrics, it's such a blatant statement that "yeah, I know I'm going to fail". Which is a though that occurs all to often to me. Sweet song though, I dig it. |

Good point, I actually never thought of it that way. I think it's also about having others make some realizations apparent to you that you should know about yourself, but don't. It doesn't focus upon the self-destructive aspect of smoking, just the perspective and somewhat bluntness of someone that they know. |

I wish they would've played it at their show though. ..And I don't think that you know what you've been missing It makes me cry sometimes. The song itself isn't extremist emo or what have you, yet brings reminiscence. And I'm a pansy like that. |

I think it's about this guy who is basically stunned by this one girl. She's amazing, and he's utterly shocked to realize he has a chance with her. "You can see my benefit".. just looking at her, you know why he likes her so much, and yet, it's not merely shallow. leave it on my doorstep or on my windowsill / I've got to water it. I've got to take care of it, I've got to water it / you can light the candle while I hit the lights / the cactus needs more light we've got to take care of it To me, this is basically "stop by anytime, we can get to know each other more" yet not yet in the physical sense. Cactus's are difficult to take care of, as he's being really cautious as to not screw this one up. "with prickers in our fingers, we tried to take care of it".. maybe this represents a short break up followed by getting back together or something to that effect. The breakdown.. "and you've got the sexy legs".. I think means that they finally went all the way. He seems to not be bragging, he's expressing the fact that he believes absolutely everything about her is incredible. "we'll make our grand enterance".. they're finally at the same level as each other, and as I think, really in love. And of course this song goes through a lot of movements. It represents the building and declining of the story held in the lyrics.. at the beginning, slow, cautious, nice.. then on to rocking out in excitement.. then on to some repetetive parts. So basically this song is really well done, and one of Piebald's best. Okay, so it's fucking awesome and my fav Piebald. Done and done! |

Lvdv.. so know what you mean about the whole having a make-out party response to the song. Except I've gotten pretty positive feedback to the idea, which may be due to the fact I was speaking to the opposite sex and they're probably a lot hornier than the average rocker. (giggles) I mean, the writer's motivation for this song was, in fact, probably hornyness. It's also probably about a guy who tries to impress this chick, and when all else fails, blatantly invites her to this make-out party (ie: the ultimate in forwardness) Hell, I'd go to a make-out party. ;) |

As for my explanation of the song, the title itself is the thesis statement for the song. ..everything that goes around / it comes back around again Kinda like the law that everything has an equal and opposite reaction. You talk shit about someone, you're going to get shit back.. ie; bad karma. As for "they'll find us dead or smiling".. someone talking trash will either get what they deserve, or might luck out and not be found subjected to bad karma.. yet. So they're smiling. But they'll still get theirs. But I really dig this song. Ample amount of rocking out + references to bad karma = pretty sweet, yo. |

The seeming randomness of this song is recognized by the songwriter.. "Minds wide open truely" makes you say, "okay, I'll keep listening and make complete sense of this" The song seems to associate itself with finding the one true love and desire someone has, the goal of their life. And if anyone tries to hinder that, they'll "roast them on a spit". |

driving home between the lines in the road i swear that i've been through this before when nothing makes much sense except for doing yourself in.. Pain is so repetetive, and it makes one want to hurt themself even more. But the writer isn't wallowing in self pity and eventual mutilation, he relates and gives hope to the listener. We can take the hits and grow tougher collect ourselves to live longer and find there is no need to be afraid because we all have more to offer when we struggle to cope with whatever it takes to make the says we all have what it takes to make it home. Awesome song, it cheers up up and rocks me out. I love the bass intro. It's so incredibly hot. Ahh. |

At the beginning where it rocks out "I need a remedy" that was my first attraction to this song. It's just basically a metaphor for healing from the scars of love and lust. Taking himself and avoiding all else, and in this quarantine of self-reflection he finds once more his desires and ambitions, and can heal. |

It's about the desire to be with someone, and yet the realization that it's just not going to work out. Basic imcompatability accounts for a lost chance. He is establishing the fact that this person is important to him, yet that there is so many more people he could be seeing and having things work out with. Yet he cares enough to tell this person that it's "not a promise or a threat or an ultimatum". The person seems to not quite understand that fact though. Just thought I'd state my interpetation and/or the obvious. This is an awesome rockin' song. Why hasn't anyone said anything? |

His verbal expression of such pure love and empathy are nothing short of breathtaking. This is by far my favorite Bright Eyes song, if not my favorite song ever.
