Is anyone else going crazy that all of your favorite indie bands are being played on the radio, and now all these stupid teeny kids that can't tell good music from a pile of dog poo on the sidewalk are saying "OMG LYKE THE SHINS / MODEST MOUSE / ETC ARE SO GOOD! I LOVE THEM!" When the Shins are on the local alt rock radio station, playing between Papa Roach and Blink 182, you know there's a problem. I'm going to have an ulcer. |

| The song doesn't remind me of anti-depressants, but "pain" references 'little white pills,' so its a possibility. ANyways, this song makes me cry because it reminds me of trying to explain to the person I was in love with why I couldn't just walk away from my drug addiction. And it reminds me of my best friend, because she introduced me to this song. | |

This song is pretty, but, I think I'm going to kill myself if Bright Eyes gets anymore popular. I feel cheated when I've been listening to a band for 4 + years and then suddenly a bunch of girls at my school start saying OMG YEAH I LOOOVE CONOR OMG HE'S SO HOT OMG LOVER I DONT HAVE TO LOVE IS THE ONLY SONG I'VE HEARD BUT I'M OBSESSED! Fucking bandwagoners. I wish I was driving that wagon just so I could push them all off. Anyways, this song is good, but it seems musically a lot less complex than a lot of his older stuff. But its not bad, by any means. |

Okay, P.O.D. sucks. But I think I'll approve of one song, just because I think that this has a rather profound message. So I'm pro-life. I'm an atheist. Unusual combination, may-be. Anyways. All of these arguments for pro-choice are decent. No one loves abortion, obviously. But basically, a fetus has nerve endings at 72 hours old. Abortions can be had up until birth. Maybe ultrasounds show that your child is potentially/definitely going to be disabled. Maybe you are the parent, but who are you to deny life from existing? Plenty of amazing and influential people have been disabled in their lives. Life is a web of interpersonal relationships. By having an abortion, you're removing a potential portion of that web, and altering what may have been. Who knows? Your aborted baby might have been the person that would have told a friend "Hey, I love you." They could be the one that stops them from self-destruction. And on another point, full of fewer maybes and what-ifs,,, can anyone else see this getting worse as time goes on? By knowing what our kids are potentially going to be like when they are born, we can control what we want to have and what we don't want to have. (ex: "oh, you're going to be born with legs that do not work. i do not want to make you have to live." may evolve into "you're not going to look the way i would prefer you to. i don't want you.") .. So it's a long shot, but is it vaguely reminiscient of when Hitler sterilized everyone who was disabled to keep them from passing on their disabilities? And I have a friend whose mother was a rape victim who changed her mind about having an abortion. And I don't know what I'd do without him, because I love him to pieces. So, who is to say whether a baby doesn't deserve a chance at life? |
