Hee hee... Don't ever let this song become "that" song for you... cause then it hurts even more... It is a great song though... Great imagery with the "I'm just a Pocketbook Brando" line. |

| Thornley – The Lies That I Believe Lyrics | 21 years ago |

After a Thornley concert I congradulated Ian on this song. He then went on to explain to me how this had always been a project for Big Wreck but they never got it down quite right. Anyways. Love the "Why do I always try to cross even though I know the bridge is burning" line. It's all about how he's trying to mend a past relationship despite all the hostility that he put into it. |

| Thornley – So Far So Good Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Ian Thornley was the lead singer/guitarist for Big Wreck before they broke up. Like many of Big Wreck's songs, this one is again about that girl that got away. The kitchen counter line refers to him remembering the good times with the girl... making love in all the fun places that he can now not help but see everywhere. |

More correctly it's all about being bored with regular sex and needing to have sex in cars to keep the sex life spiced up! The beginning lyrics above are wrong though... They should read like so: Lying in bedrooms is easy, It's not like it's five years ago Lately you're over my body Is that just the place that I want you to be? |

| The Watchmen – Brighter Hell Lyrics | 22 years ago |

It's a song about a breakup. "What's all this talk about planning for the crisis? I'm not thinking like that at all" (Doesn't see the breakup coming... It sidetracks him) "Smiling faces are my Dionysus (Greek God of ecstasy/drunkeness) I'm not thinking clear at all!" He's saying that the breakup is killing him "What would you say falling from a building?" (Cause he feels like he's falling from one) He's saying that he misses and still wants the relationship. "It's hard for me to stay away/You're looking pretty fine to me!" But he's also saying that despite being in Hell, He's on his way to a better place... Brighter Hell... In the end they're both gonna be in a better place, but they're for now they're both still on that ugly road to Brighter Hell. Absolutly great song... The Watchmen's best by far! Gotta love the keyboard in the beginning! |

| Big Wreck – Blown Wide Open Lyrics | 22 years ago |

The second last lyric is supposed to be "Why's she going?" It's about the skeletons in his closet that are coming back to haunt him. The girl left (Why's she going) and he's horribly depressed about it. Christ the entire albulm is about his depression based on the one that got away! |

Great song... It's totally about trying to save pride but regretting the decision. Gotta love that lyric "I swear you mighta left me anyways"... Here's hoping I was right cause I'm not really sure if you would have left. |

The church bells/guitar comment is interesting. My buddy and I have two different ideas as to what this song is about that neither one of us is convinced about but still enjoy. 1. The song is about a girl who has died and is a ghost(bodies glide from room to room/hey skin like a doll) and who's lover or father is tortured constantly while in the house (I hate these walls... they speak to me). She only appears in the dark and is chased away by the falling light (Catch that light, it falls in subtle patters, crowds in and tells them when their time is up and when it's over). 2. The song is about a single-father who's daughter has run away from home and become a prostitute in defiance of him (maybe he molested her). In this case the "catch that light" line refers to the morning light sneaking through the curtains of some cheap hourly-rated motel and telling her customers when it's time to go. Hey who knows right?.... Great song though! |
