There's a figure of speech I hear a lot: "God helps those who help themselves". Basically our lives are ultimately our responsibility to maintain and uphold. God is less a figure that will cause things to happen for you (not that it is impossible, if you believe in the concept) but more a prop - a support. It's very, very easy to make the correlation at that point and say, "if God is a support, then doesn't that make religion and its concepts a cruth?" If you choose to view it that way, then yes. But, most will tell you that is a trap. The truth remains prevailent. God is, in essense, an aid through life's struggles. He loves you, He wants to see you happy, but He will not live your life for you, nor will he change everything around you in your life in order to achieve that end. Life will have its moments where it is terrible and painful, lonely and cold, and it's very easy to fall into despair. But again, that's the trap. Stay positive. Also, this is my opinion. |

I'm amazed there are no comments on this absolutely fantastic song. Shame. Less dubstep imo... Anyhow, what I think this song means is very clear. Sometimes in life you can't get ahead. Sometimes you set your goals so high and they're just so out of reach, that even the very act of striving towards them becomes a niche in the road for you to trip on. In all sincerity, this song heavily, heavily reminds me of my own life. I have goals and dreams that I want to accomplish; but, I've done so petty little in regards to actually working towards achieving them, that now, nearing my thirties, I'm struggling endlessly to try and chase them down with all sincerity. I've built up staggering layers of failures in my life, both in finance and relationships, only to now look back and "see the ruin I have built". Now, I've lost so much that I have so scant little support from others that it is, essentially, facing the emptiness. I've fallen down, but I'm picking myself back up. I have to prove myself to everyone again in my life. Needless to say... this song came into my life literally at the exact same moment that I realized all this about myself, so it means a lot to me. So much so, that it's almost a sort of anthem. "You've failed, have failed, and will fail again. Get up and face it." |

I have no idea what the song truly means but my take on it is, is that the person the singer represents is a father talking to a son/daughter that he didn't intend to have. Certain lines such as, "We are uninvited guests / in this melancholy world," and the following lines suggest that is how he once viewed/views the world this way, but realized and, as suggested by the following chorus, is trying to teach his child that it's not so bad as long as you appreciate and value those who care about you. But the son/daughter, for whatever reason, can't accept this. The chorus, as well as lines following the chorus suggest to me that he's a man of real character. He may have, while seeking a new experience/horizon (drugs, sex... the taking of drugs that led to sex...), gotten someone pregnant, but unlike some men, he didn't shirk from this responsibility. He accepts what he must do and tries, in his own limited way, to do what he can and to provide. Now, he sees his son/daughter going down a similar road and is trying to teach the son/daughter not to do whatever it is he's doing, trying to show him what the right things are to do, and emphasizing that he, the father, would do anything under the sun to see that his child not follow a similar, self-limiting path such as having/causing an unintended pregnancy. I dunno. That's just the first thing that pops to my mind is. I could be off entirely. *shrug* |

| What a great song. Easily one of my favorites by PM5k. Sounds to me like they're talking about people here in the US not doing very much to help (ourselves) or others around the world. (You know, the important matters such as famine and poverty.) | |

| Very awesome song and what a great message. Totally appeals to my personal feelings about society. | |
| Dope – Stop Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Makes me think about someone despairing about life and probably contemplating suicide. The chorus is supposed to be someone else saying, "stop - don't do it". That's how it strikes me at least. | |

| You know, there's bound to be a meaning to these songs of theirs. Please stop and start thinking about what that might be. | |

This song, to me, is being about a woman who is leaving her boyfriend/husband because he's an abusive person. Not physically abusive, but more emotionally abusive. What seals this belief for me is when she says in the opening of the chorus, "You're on any other side". This reminds me of some of my own personal experiences with people where, no matter what logic I used or what reasoning I could put forth, they were always on the other side of my position. Just my two cents. |

| Linkin Park – Lying from You Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Personally, I feel that every word in this song simply screams 'poser'. And I think that's the meaning of this song. The singer is singing about a person who's pretending to be part of the in crowd simply to gain the attention of those around him. He built up a false persona and, as the singer says, steals second after second of peoples attention only to lose it one day when he decides that he's not being himself and that his life's going nowhere. So, he does or says something that causes all of the people around him to reject him so that he can be alone. To me, this is the meaning of the song and it's a damn fine meaning too -- easily my favorite Linkin Park song. :) |

Honestly, when I heard this song the first thing that came to mind was USA. Dunno why, but it just seems to fit well with the feelings of most people outside of the US. I have my reasons for this feeling, but I won't go into them. I mainly just don't feel like typing it all out. |

| Oh contraire, I like it. No real meaning to it that I can find, but music doesn't always require meaning I suppose. | |

| Agreed, Philadelphia Eagles. The song is about realization of God and salvation through rebirth. | |

This song, to me, has two possible meanings. One: the song is basically about a relationship between two people who love each other - or did/thought they did. The girl obviously is sad about what's going on in the relationship, feels it's superficial, and the guy is trying to cheer her up and make her feel better; but, his efforts are in vain as the lines, "Afraid and out of reasons/To fight the way she’s feeling/She breaks down (breaks down)" notes. Basically, the guy doesn't want the relationship to fall apart and (I think) the girl is willing to forgive him should he remember what he's done and never do it again (thus, love her tomorrow and everyday thereafter). Two: the song is about a girl's relationship with God. She's the one at fault for something (sin) and realizes it. She feels that she's a poser, and is insincere in her relationship with God ("Its killing me/Thinking what has happened/To live the life like that, man/I break down/It’s fake now"). She wishes God would change ("Its killing me/Wishing you can change/But he’s always been the same") but, knows he won't and that if she chooses to leave God she'll lose herself/soul ("If you leave now/I’ll drown"). In this case, God has forgiven her, and is asking if she'll still love him and stay strong in her convictions. But, like example one, she must remember what she's done and learn from it. ------------- Regardless of the true meaning, the song is pretty dern good. It's much better for me through meaning no.2, but that's due to my own beliefs. :) But, whatever... |

| Nightwish – She Is My Sin Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well, I just heard this song and to me the song is about a virgin girl being seduced by some guy. He doesn't care about her, he just wants her for the night. The line "pick your prey in a wicked way" suggests that to me, as well as the line in the chorus "A wolf will betray a lamb" and couple other lines. It also sounds like another, more mature woman is warning her about devious men. But regardless of meaning, it's a very good song. | |
| Evanescence – Imaginary (Fallen version) Lyrics | 22 years ago |

This is by far the best song on the album, IMO. It's just amazing. (and I VERY rarely say that about any song) Immediately when I heard "Tourniquet" flow into another song I knew I was in for something nice. This song greatly appeals to me. I often draw and write to just get away from the crap that is the world we live in. So, for me, the dreamworld she sings of is the world of my stories and comics. Thanks, Evanescence. This is a great song. |

| Evanescence – Going Under Lyrics | 22 years ago |

When a band is played constantly on radiostations people quickly lose interest in the band and it's sound. It's the equivilant to having something shoved in your face. No one likes being told what to do/like, and when songs are played over and over that's the interpretation a lot of people begin to feel. Anyhow, I agree both with chino69 and imaginarylight. These are the best answers I could think of. One thing I'd like to note on this song is how when she sings particular portions of the song she sounds a lot different. In the first few lines she sounds very mean and rather angry. In the lines that follow, she sounds more like a person. Almost like she's singing as two different "characters". Very cool stuff. |

| Iced Earth – The Coming Curse Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
"Alien to us" could mean anything. It just means that "the coming curse" isn't human. Make of it what you will, but the way the songs speak of 'Him' makes me greatly believe that it's merely a demon disguised as a human. "Born of the beast", "the anti-christ", "born on the sixth day, of the sixth month, in the sixth hour" (666, the sign of the beast)... I think it plainly states it, really. Of course, the way he words it in "your anti-Christ" could mean that we, as a people, would lable It as being a devil or whatever. *shrugs* I think there's just a bit too much evidence leaning towards a supernatural origin rather that Martians. Anyhow, this is a wonderful song, like all of Iced Earth's songs. |

| Tristania – Angellore Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
Honestly, I don't know what this song means. But, it's a very, very good song, IMO. Also, those aren't the lyrics... well... it's a small portion of them. Here are the lyrics: When summer's gone flee my angel Winterwinds they might lead you far away Beyond the pale horizon, a greaven silence Over dreams to my heart yet not remain (Vibeke) Oh please believe It's in her eyes (Vibeke) It is inside It's in her heart, the same relation from which I once led astray (Vibeke) Oh please believe It's in her eyes (Vibeke) It is inside It's in her heart, the same delightful place I once felt in you Angellore revered at dusk For thee I rose, now descend all alone Rise for me, soothe my heart So wide a sea, may I overcome (Spoken) Into the night strays an angel So lost and tearful all astray Into the night strays an angel So lost and tearful all astray Lo where's the pale horizon Oh where there's dyingness You reach for me beyond so wide a sea (Vibeke) Oh please believe It's in her eyes (Vibeke) It is inside It's in her heart, the same desire I feel burning in me (Vibeke) Oh please believe It's in her eyes (Vibeke) It is inside It's in her heart, the same desire from The empty pain within Rise for me, soothe my heart So wide a sea, may I overcome (Vibeke) Deep as the sea, wailing secrecies are burning in me For a dream I once desired I bequeth my sorrow and I regret to thee Cannot cross that wide a sea Angellore revered at dusk For thee I rose, now descend all alone Rise for me, soothe my heart So wide a sea, may I overcome |
