Wow, is that all? The song seems longer listening to it. Man, the part where he says "Cause if I take that drink, I might as well just die... And if I kill myself, I'd be giving up my try" is chilling because he dosen't have a good reason not to kill himself... Either that or I'm reading too much into weak lyrics |

Damn... Just cause you can relate it to drugs, it dosen't mean it's about drugs, and just because it's about drugs, it dosen't mean you can't relate it to things that aren't about drugs... (makes more sense read out loud) I'm tired of all those people out there who reference every damn song to drugs and stop. There might be another meaning if you bother to stop and look. |

Dude, it's a *parody!* Eminem's just making fun of all those songs out there that are like "I think I love you baby, I think I love you too..." etc. He's basically saying that they're full of shit and guys who say those things are most likey paying their girl lip service to score. He's also saying (between the lines) that girls who buy this BS are stupid; he's not slamming females in general. It's strange how intellegent his lyrics can be. |

| Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics | 22 years ago |

Wow, this was the first Queen song I've heard, and I didn't like it much at first, but it grows on you once you really listen to what it means. I used to think classic rock was all dry and unoriginal, but man, they really hit something that music today is missing. And now I realize it's far from dry, even though bands like Aerosmith are emulated (read: copied mindlessly) all the time. Diety03, I thought his "mamma just killed a man" at first, too, although if you place a comma in there: "Mamma, [I] just killed a man." It really changes the meaning of the song either way. Maybe it was meant to be like that. In the 'trial' part where he says "Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me," it could be a reference to the electric chair, reinforcing the trial/execution theme. Towards the end where he says "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye? So you think you can love me and leave me to die? Oh, baby, Can't do this to me, baby, just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here," he's talking to his girlfriend, trying to convince her to help him escape, but she seems to have reservations on abetting a criminal. Don't know if that was the real meaning, but it's what seems to come to my mind. And basically, all that Pkjun said. He covered all the good psycological ties you can relate it to. And like TheAntiPoser said, we're not going to know exactly what it means, but the fact that it means something so powerfully personal makes it work, even if we can't understand the meaning. If you want to relate it to AIDs and homosexuality you can, although it seems irrevelent. Maybe we can get drugs in here, too. He's on dope, so nothing really matters, while under the influence he accidentally kills someone, he's on dope at the trial so he gives such a lame defense, and at the end he's mad at the drugs for loving him (giving him that warm fuzzy feeling drugs do) and then leaving him to die (be executed for his stoned actions). *Note: the last paragraph is dripping for sarcasm for all of you who missed that. I was trying to show that you can relate it to anything controversial if you try hard enough to pull it out of your ass. But go ahead and discuss whether it was dope or LSD; it dosen't really matter... to me. *singing* |

A friend of mine introduced me to Mewithoutyou recently. I'm not much of a fan of hardcore/screamo music, but for some reason, this song spoke to me. I love the emotion he puts in his voice, when he screams "you know it's me!" he's almost pleading, and when he says "it'll be alright," it's as if he's telling himself that, but questioning it at the same time. And yeah, its powerfull when he says "You'd better be alone" |
