| Mindless Self Indulgence – Shut Me Up Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song to me is certainly about censorship in a sense. I agree with Brain Stew on the fact that it's a sarcastic response to most people who get shut up by the producers, and turn into something similar to Green Day. "I like My coffee black just like my metal" would be a way of saying "My music's the way I like it" "I can't wait for you to knock me up" Most people who use the term "Knocked up" are using it in a bad light, so basically he's like "I can't wait for you to screw me over with your constant assramming" "I can't wait for you to shut me up and make me hip like badass" Another way of saying "Yay, I just can't wait for you to put words into my mouth and make me one of your hip little record selling radio whores", something that MSI never wants to be. The video gives a theory to me, when they put the censorship bar over the guy's mouth, which further lends to the theory. |

| Barenaked Ladies – Who Needs Sleep? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I know this song so well, from a personal perspective. "I turned the lights off while she burned So while she’s three hundred degrees I throw the sheets off and I freeze" switch the genders, and I know how this feels. My husband's sleeping peacefully, being mister Blast Furnace, making it impossible to sleep with the heat, so I toss off the sheets and it's 50 degrees in the room. The uncomfortableness of it makes me less likely to sleep, so I spend time trying to relax, count my heartbeats, count my breaths, but nothing works, so I get up and say "to hell with it". Even when he's not making a blast furnace under the blankets, I sometimes just lay there and my mind won't shut off. Truly, an uncomfortable song. |

| The Animals – House Of The Rising Sun Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
It's about a brothel, perhaps a predominantly asian one (Rising Sun pertains to Japan), maybe with poker added in. I believe the narrator of the song was raised by his mother, and heard stories of his father, and, as a grown man, he became like his father, and ended up getting busted, because he wore "that ball and chain". Then again, SukiDarko pretty much nailed it on the head with the truth. |

| Voltaire – Ex Lover's Lover Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| This song, in my opinion, is something we all repress within ourselves and Voltaire himself has the balls enough to express. I think that this song has a lot of anger put into it and that's healthy. everyone needs to find a means of release, and he's found his, and in doing so, has helped others find their release (by listening to this song). its an excellent song. | |
