Pink Floyd – Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun Lyrics 22 years ago
I don't know what it means but I heard waters play it live at the Garden two years ago and it was amazing, especially because he played very few old school floys songs.

Steve Winwood – John Barleycorn Lyrics 22 years ago
This is an old traditional song about a failed attempt at prohibition in England in the early middle ages. John Barleycorn (alcohol) wins in the end because people depend on him too much.

Gerry Rafferty – Baker Street Lyrics 22 years ago
no comments for one of the most powerful songs ever written? Pretty self explanatory but still makes you think.

Don Henley – Sunset Grill Lyrics 22 years ago
i saw it slighly less negatively; they want to move to a quieter place and settle down, but probably financial reasons and boredome or thinking they would miss the town keeps them from doing it. it is sad, but a great song

Red Hot Chili Peppers – I Could Have Lied Lyrics 22 years ago
He dated Sinead O'Connor? He should have lied and said he didn't. Awesome song, anyway.

this is "have a cigar" 20 years later

David Bowie – Space Oddity Lyrics 22 years ago
I don't think this is about heroin as suggested; there's just not enough evidence-although there may be some alternate meaning. Remember ashes to ashes is a lighter toned song written years later-only the character tom connects them

Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics 22 years ago
If you have some free time here is something cool to try-someone showed this to me in college and it freaked me out: play this song while you play the last scene in the movie 2001 a space odyssey with the sound down. The music fits the flight of the spaceship perfectly. then, if you timed it right, the climax of the song corresponds to when the astronaut turns around and sees the other being in the room-it gave everyone in the room chills. I did a little reading on this since I'm a huge Floyd fan and Waters had even said in an interview they were disappointed they weren't asked to do its soundtrack and he didn't deny trying to sync up the two, so I'm positive Floyd did it intentionally- it would be too big a coincidence anyway.

Led Zeppelin – Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Lyrics 22 years ago
Favorite Zep song. I thought they wrote this song. Anyway, I always think of Odysseus leaving Calypso's Island - the sea and his home calling him. It's right up their alley (Achilles last stand)

The Police – Invisible Sun Lyrics 22 years ago
I think the invisible sun is God. It could also be anything you need to believe in to get through a tough or meaningless life

A Flock of Seagulls – I Ran (So Far Away) Lyrics 22 years ago
I love the song. Is it possible the lyrics have some deep meaning or is it just some dude runnning?

Pink Floyd – The Post War Dream Lyrics 22 years ago
Waters doesn't think england is where it wanted to be after WW2. Nips are Japnanese (Great Nippon)

Pink Floyd – Remember a Day Lyrics 22 years ago
The good old days, youth, carelessness, and days before the band was constantly fighting are missed

Pink Floyd – The Final Cut Lyrics 22 years ago
the song is more 3rd person. The character is about to slit his wrist but at the end he loses his nerve and never makes the "final cut"
