wow. yet another elliott smith song that so many people can relate to. i think it's about slowly losing your spark. he's lost the will to go out and be exposed to the rest of the world. he doesn't like it necessarily, but life is so confusing....like this song. and sometimes, when you're not too into the real world, you make your own world within a world. because, life gets so boring when you're quiet. |

i really love this song. i also agree that it might be about suicide, or death in general. it really does apply to kurt cobain. the death of a king in his own class. a johnny rotten.. better to burn out than to rust... wow.. this song is amazing |

i think that this song can be easily brought down to a more personal level. to me, this song sounded like an ode to the internal world of an introvert. maybe that's just cuz i'm an introvert and i can relate to it...whatever. sometimes it's easy to get really bothered by people and their insignificant opinions. you just want everyone to be quiet and leave you alone....umm.. that sounds dumb...
sooo...now i understand why radiohead just adopted the idea of going along with the whole roman emperor idea... i think if they tried to explain it, they'd just sound really dumb....like i did.
anywho...i really like this song. it's one of my favorites. |
