Animal Collective – Who Could Win a Rabbit Lyrics 17 years ago
Well I think these lyrics would make a lot more sense if you ever worked in the restaurant business. There are a lot of lines in here that reflect the mood and atmosphere of working at a restaurant (I work at Pappadeaux and this song feels just like home). Things like "Hungry bread and butter hustle" is just the act of trying to refill your many tables with butter while trying to do a million other things. "Where's your relaxation?
Where's the time required for your health
Been hating on my new perspective.
Been Hurrying along no meal is ever done"
Working long shifts 5 times a week really does put a damper on your health, as does it change your perspective about a lot of things, such as discriminating against minorities because they don't tip well, or things along those lines that you didn't previously think. "Bad mind let me put on good habbits
been working to put on good habbits
some times I can't find my good habbits." You pick up a lot of bad habits working in the fast paced atmosphere of a restaurant, most you don't normally do outside of your work. You aren't happy about them, but you have to do it to do your job. Other lines like "Glad you brought your food on
Eat it like it's gonna get a way
this coffee sure is getting colder
the seats are getting fewer
space is losing place" again seem to just talk about life as a server at a restaurant. Now the whole "could you win a rabbit?" thing is what really confuses me about this song, perhaps it has to do with some small gimick an AC member had to promote as a server to his tables, or something along those lines. I'm not entirely sure about this meaning of the song, it just seems a lot of these lines were heavily influenced by being a server at a restaurant

Bright Eyes – I Must Belong Somewhere Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't really think this song is about people ignoring problems going on, but more of an epiphany Conor had that things just exist and they always have and always will, and even though we can try and fix the problems, they will never cease, cause everything that is belongs. Sounds more like a Dylan song to me. I really love the new cd, a lot.

Bright Eyes – Hit the Switch Lyrics 19 years ago
This entire cd is fucking brilliant. I used to live my life by this song, well mostly the last paragraph. I would be confused about religion and life in general, and be into drugs and getting drunk and stoned every day after school, and had nothing to really believe in. This song and cd just made me glad to be alive, and this is the most impactful of all Conor's albums. I really think it is underappreciated, probably because of the musical style he chose. Every song on the cd (except Theme to Pinata) is just brilliant and has been the only cd that has really influenced how I am this much. That is how I define a great cd, and this is one of the greatest to me.

Sufjan Stevens – The Lord God Bird Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is just about a woodpecker that was thought to be extinct until it was found in a small town in Arkansas. The song just tells the story about how this bird has impacted their little community. Before they found the bird, it was just a small town barely making it, all middle wage paying jobs, and then they found this bird. The bird became a "tourist attraction" as one could say. Every business was changed to reflect the bird. The town relies on this bird to bring in people to buy merchandise, get jobs, ect. The hunters have to watch out and not kill the bird or it would ruin the whole city's business. This song is just about a city's history.

Damien Rice – Cold Water Lyrics 21 years ago
I thought it said "No one is going to allow me that" instead of "Love one's daughter". It would make a lot more sense. And this just seems like a song about Damien's relationship with God and I agree with Battaryacid on the chanting.

Death Cab for Cutie – Coney Island Lyrics 21 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs from DCFC and one of my favorite songs of all time. All your guys' lyrics are right, but to me, it seems like he is alone. Like something happened that left him alone, and everything he had had dissapeared. Hence, the Brooklyn part. But he is enjoying the moment, spending time with the things he used to do, even though all he has left is memories. I just heard this song today (even though I ahve been listenign to DCFC for about a month) and what a time to hear it, my girlfriend breaks up with me, and everything has changed for me. And all I have now is memories. It is nuts how much DCFC songs relate to me

Thrice – Kill Me Quickly Lyrics 22 years ago
Well I think (it is probably wrong) that this song is about starting a new relationship after something bad has happened. Just the lyrics lead me to think this (exp: a promise that, tomorrow we'll wake up somewhere new). Oh yeah and Thrice RULES!!!!

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Can't Stop Lyrics 22 years ago
When I first heard this song I thought it was about appreciation and don't discrimintae or something like that sort (eastside love is living on the westend hints this). But I think this is one the the peppers' gretest songs.

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 23 years ago
I am pretty sure thta this song is talking about how Jesus was aacraficed on the cross for our sins (hint, hint, self-ritious suicide). Like when he says "I cry when angels deserve to die", Jesus was considered an angel and he said he deserved to die for our sins. Eh getting my drift???
