the whole album is a concept album on he subject of sleep paralysis based on a Dali painting from 1944. Sleep paralysis is a condition whereby when you wake from dreaming you find that you are conscious yet do not have the ability to move; many hallucinations both visual and auditory occur to the sufferer at this moment. This is clear from this song; being a description of the room the sleeper can see in their vision; especially the reference to 'a faceless crowd';as many sleep paralysis sufferers experience a sense of an evil presence just outside the peripheral of their vision. These concepts run thrughout the dredg album; see if you can pick up on them. |
