| He's talking about a break up and how he uses those lines to avoid conversation with her for because he still loves her, and he hates himself for it so he drinks away the way he feels about the situation. | |

| Actually, from a purely practical standpoint, if LP had their songs written for them in such a magic fashion, then they could put out longer albums more often, which would profit them even more. If I were them, from a money-making perspective, I would see that and capitalize on it. Linkin Park is a bunch of guys playing what they love, what they put their passion, work, and blood into, they try to make their stuff so unique, while still relating to the audience, that people won't think that they are like so many other dime-a-dozen bands out there. | |

Look, if Linkin Park didn't write their own stuff, they'll be found out, publically decried and discredited, exposed as hacks, and be laughed out of the music industry for not being original...or at least not saying that they're not original. BUT, I think that they do write their own stuff, because there's really no reason not to think any different. Linkin Park didn't start to make money or get acclaim or fame, they just started playing music that described their feelings and people liked it. They got picked up because of their unique style and sound, not for their amazing ghostwriters. Other people can't write LP because they have their own feel and style. You can say that they faked it since the beginning, but that would be taking a big chance in thinking that it would actually work. I'm pretty convinced that they do their own work because of the actual quality that comes out on their discs. Sure, I like to complain that they don't make long enough albums, but I can't complain that they don't do an amazing job with what they do release. Now could we just simmer down a little so that nobody's parents get called? |

Look, if they didn't write their own songs, then they'll eventually be found out, proclaimed hacks, and laughed out of the record industry having had their records tarnished for life and that will be the end of it. BUT, I think it's their own stuff, because outsiders can't write Linkin Park, unless you claim that they've done it since they started, then that's just ludicris. Linkin Park never started out to be famous, they just wrote stuff they felt, and people happened upon them and liked it..it's fairly simple. I heard a quote from them this morning that they just describe themselves as "music geeks that got lucky", so I don't think that they have a huge multi-national conspiracy to steal other people's stuff. Now, kids, let's calm down before anybody wets themselves. |

| The Ataris – In This Diary Lyrics | 23 years ago |

I think the first part is about someone having to leave home, and while they're packing up their stuff they're thinking all this stuff, and remembering the times where they didn't have to worry about anything. (I'm knowing that right now is all that matters.) The chorus is giving advice to people who want to be in the position to make their life change, but don't really know what is involved, and what it does to you. The second verse is about starting to branch off on your own, like in your late teens (15,16,17) and doing things more on your own, until the last 2 lines. (2015 Riverside, it's time to say, "goodbye." Get on the bus, it's time to go.) It gives me chills when they do the "2015 Riverside" line because I'm getting close to that part of my life where it's not so carefree. Basically, it's a 'don't-take-your-fun-days-for-granted' song because you will grow out of the time that you'll always get them. Great song. |
