well... I've been told that heroin kind of gives you the sensation of going through a damp tunnel or pipe. I wouldn't know for sure but so I've been told. sooo...things seem to make sense with that theory. Betty laughs "it felt like a river insider her bones" may refer to the sensation of when you shoot up. If you've ever had an IV you know that you can feel the fluid flowing through you. she takes him there and leads him by the hand=introduces him to the drug. and she comforts him through is first time (rocking chair for my soul). Third verse would imply that since life is so short, why worry if it shortens it even more. just do what the hell you like. ummm ya that's my theory. |

This song is about suicide. In the film, whenever Jack looks at the radiator it is supposed to symbolize Jack thinking about suicide. So the lady in the radiator is an angel telling him that once he gets to heaven everything will be ok and all will be forgiven (the worms/umbilical cords represent sin; specifically his sin of premarital sex). |

ummm... Possibly about a girl who thinks/tries to be wild but is really just a nice girl at heart. it's hard to say since Frank was constantly smoking copious amounts of pot while writing. |
