here's what i get from this song...kinda different from most posted here.... i showed this to a friend of mine, and she said "i don't get it, is he happy or sad?" i think he's happy. elated. ecstatic. i'm thinking this because i've felt like the words in this song..... sometimes, life just sucks. or you're going through some really difficult time, or you're just down. but, you've got this one bright spot...the love of your life. and even what seems like the most boring thing - like watching cnn - is the best thing for you when you feel like that. i know i've felt like that. heck, i feel like that right this very moment. maybe that's why i'm taking this slant on this song. :) |

This is my fav JM song. I always think that my fav songs of his are those I can relate to. Like, there's a few of his songs that just sound like they're telling the story of my life - 3X5, St Patrick's Day, Comfortable. I love the line where he says "...she swears that's she's artsy, but you couldn't distinguish miles from coltrane (or me from jack johnson/dave matthews)". Reminds me of a girl I once loved - she knew nothing about the music I loved, but in a way it endeared me to her, and I know I'd be more "comfortable" with her than any girl who seems like the perfect one. ...and, yes, i do want her back.... |

This song is on the Bigger Than My Body Australia Single, which you can get pretty cheap on ebay. It also has one of my favorite John Mayer songs - his cover of Radiohead's Kid A. BTW, I think I'm a little slow, cos I can't really pick up on the meaning of this song - like "you always see the bottom line". What am I missing? |

this is my favorite travis song. i love blasting this one and singing along - in my room, in my car, in the shower (my favorite place to sing it). i love trying to belt it out and hold that note as long as fran can. this is one of those songs that just hits me hard. especially now, since a while back, i lost the woman i love, yet still stay in close association with her. i'm so in love with her, and probably always will be - i keep "falling down", hitting the floor every time i see her. i'm keeping hope alive, but for me, it seems like "time wastes so much time". it was always my hope to one day play and sing this song for my wife on our wedding day. maybe someday.... |
