The Ataris did this song no justice. It was a valiant effort, albeit a flop. |

you hit the nail on the head, tsk8rkff. if only all emo sounded like this. bands like jawbreaker and rites of spring don't get the recognition they deserve. they opened the doors for bands like the get up kids and saves the day. if you listen to saves the day's earlier recordings (circa "can't slow down") they're a bit reminiscent of earlier emo, but now they've been watered down and deprecated. what a shame. but at least we've got rites of spring and the likes to fall back on. |

man, oh man... strike anywhere. amazing band. i haven't been fortunate enough to see them live, but i've heard they're excellent. it's rare to find a band that has interesting, intelligent lyrics, a strong message that they both support and endorse, and great, inspiring music. my boyfriend's band is looking into touring with them this summer. should be rad. |

This is such a wonderful song -- the Descendents are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Hearing their songs is like hearing my diary sung on tape.
And it's very cool that newer bands like the Ataris are paying homage to older, seemingly more "credible" bands like the Descendents and Built to Spill. |

This, dubiously, is my favourite song by the Specials. I am lucky enough to have a mother who is very into ska and early punk (believe it or not!), and she turned me on the Specials. I am glad she did, too, because it opened my eyes to a lot of other great ska bands, like the Selecter. Hurrah for Two-Tone. |

| Alkaline Trio – Message From Kathlene Lyrics

This is *the* song for the kind of love where one moment you're head over heels and flighty and quixotic, and the next you're fucking hopeless and suicidal because you absolutely love this person so much, and you doubt you'll ever be able to articulate this emotion to them.
Nice depiction of my current situation. |

Matt Skiba manages to make alcoholism and smoker's lung seem like the most attractive, romantic, desirable things in the world. I had a "grab you by the arms and kiss you so hard" moment myself, a few days ago. Love is the most exhilerating emotion a human being is capable of experiencing, and it's especially lovely to have a song to fall in love to. Alkaline Trio would definitely be the band I would hire to record a soundtrack to my life. |

I never really wanted to experience the essence of this song; it's really depressing to "be a friend and be in love this way." |
