This song must have a similar effect on most people. I often find it difficult to find emotion in songs, the lyrics have to be a special something to get through. The first time I listened to this song, and the lyrics came clear, I suddenly realised I was crying. That's a very rare moment for music. Loreena truly has the voice of an angel, and Alfred Noyes' works fit fantastically with her music. |

| Blind Guardian – The Bard's Song (In the Forest) Lyrics

The song itself is actually based around the concept album that it appears in, Somewhere Far Beyond. Every song on the album is about a character who finds themself in a different world. Time What Is Time, for example, is about a man who finds himself in the Blade Runneresque setting.
The Bard Song: In The Forest, is about each character from the songs on the album coming together for a meeting themselves. You can see them all on the front cover of the album. Clever, huh? |

I think the actual lyrics are portrayed much better in the rearranged acoustic version of the song. The lyrics, I believe, are actually part of the semi concept album that was Imaginations From The Other Side. It is like an opening to the main story of the song And The Story Ends. At first when I heard it live, Hansi says "This next song is about a boy.. abused by his mother & father, he sits alone in his room, but still he manages to keep up his bright eyes". I read later in an interview with Hansi that Bright Eyes & And The Story Ends are about a boy who sees another world through the mirror in his room. I don't remember the story completely accurately, so I'll save it to put up for And The Story Ends. Anyhow, the song is part of a story that Hansi created for the Imaginations album.
The videogame, I've only seen the film once. I didn't catch it well, but I thought it was Super Mario 2. |

Yeah, this is plain, straight out metal. The lyrics are great & the solo & drumming totally rocks. The lyrics, I think, are based on Hansi's life experiences himself. |

MattStriker hit the nail right on the head. It is about the Trojan War, it focuses mainly on Cassandra, her feelings, and the people's feelings toward her. Under The Ice also covers the same topic.
Blind Guardian are *not* a Lord of the Rings band. They've made one concept album that was about The Silmarillion, and several other songs based on Tolkien's works. The fact that they can produce such diversity in their music & vocals, and that Hansi can write so incredibly on so many different subjects, are the main reasons I like the band so much. |
