I added a comment to "Karsay Street," but it kinda applies here too. Karsay street, as most of you probably know, is sampled from the movie "Apocolypse Now." The title of this track, Lazzaro, also comes up at another point in the movie, when there are two boats passing each other on the river, and fucking with each other, a person on one boat yells to a person on another boat "Is that you, Lazzaro?" I'm sure its not a coincidence, but I don't know about any deeper connection with TFTR and Apocolypse now. Maybe they just watched the movie and liked Lazzaro as the name for a track. Who knows... |

They don't cry when they sing, you're right. But you can write songs about relationships without crying about it, and thats what thursday does - extended metaphors, lots of the time. Sorry, but a lot of thursday songs ARE about relationships, and if you think that automatically means they're crying, I have to disagree. Poison the well writes lots of songs about relationships - they don't cry when they sing. Maybe you're right tho.. maybe understanding in a car crash is really about a car crash.. and maybe this song is about a yo-yo or something, which is why its called "wind up." |

The fact that this is from Apocolypse now is interesting, especially since track 2 is called "Lazzaro" and in the movie, theres a part where friendly boats ride by each other in the river, and fuck with each other (mooning, throwing flares), one of the people on the "captains" boat yells "Is that you, Lazzaro?" I don't know if theres any other connection with the album as a whole and with apocolypse now.. but both of these seem more than coincidence.. at least they had the movie in mind when they wrote this... |
