I love this song. It seems to me that he's apologising to somebody..but failing to do so an insulting them instead..hense the repation of "I didn't mean it".

Hell Is For Heroes – Night Vision Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this song is about the music industry and maybe it's empty meaninglessness...The title "Night Vision" is a reference to only seeing at night...in this case vision is used as a reference to being themselves and not someone else "i've been waiting for this night to open my eyes" like a new start and something that continues. The lines "once again we breathe in the air
escape to somewhere far from nowhere" refer to the only time they go outside is when they're moving from place to place "far from nowhere" as if it's somewhere exciting and not nowhere. "where the sky's been tainted red" is a reference to the artificiallity of the situations they're in and the things that they do or "tainted red" could be a reference to the death of themselves as they once were..a new start? I dunno I'm going on impulse here...
"trading memories for dreams" referes to what they lose by living these dreams...and thats their memories which could be their friends, family and even experiences that now mean nothing..."and now our wings are painted gold
they'll make idols of us yet" This describes how people build you up to something that you may not have had anything to do with..."empty promises they sold
will reach their best before dates soon..." And the last line in this verse describes how things come and go as easy as food aon best before dates and how easily you can be dropped....This is just an idea of what it means and could easily be wrong... Ideas?

Funeral for a Friend – 10:45 Amsterdam Conversation Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is about a break-up over the phone. The first verse describes how the person is left speachless after a phone call "into a reciever with no tongue" describes how is unable to talk. My favourite line "when heaven is remembered but never seen
through hearts shaped like kaleidoscopes" discusses how you never actually feel like your so happy your in heaven but when you reflect on times you realise that you were, but as all things that are reflected on it's a tainted view hence the seeing it through "kaleidoscopes". The whole thing is repeated twice to show how the feeling won't go away and the person keeps repeating the moment just to take in the reality of the situation. This song is one of the most beautifully written FFAF songs and kicks major ass live!

Placebo – Special Needs Lyrics 20 years ago
Special Needs- could be seen as two different things. Either the person actually has special needs (disability isn't perticually special needs) or they need something special to help them through a tough time..namely the person this song is aimed at. Personally I think that this song is based on some kind of experience that Brian or one of the other band members may have had and is based on something once said to them.
I see two possible readings of this song, that a person was in some sort of an accident at the age of 19 and is in a relationship with big dreams and hopes that has to be finished because of the accident. The middle part with the repetition of "me" can be read as an eccoe of the sirens of an ambulance that references to the "6 months off" which could be the time they spent in hospital, but they're blaming themselves.
Another reading could be that it's about someone with a coke adiction "whenever noses start to bleed". The person has a strong adiction to coke and the song is aimed at someone that they need to get over it but couldn't stand the pain of watching them do that anymore. The "6 months off for bad behaviour" could be a reference to time spent in rehab and the realisation that it's their own fault. they could be reflecting on all the things they want from life that the other person can have but they can't because they can't get off the drugs. The middle "me" part could be a reference to them getting their release again because it slows down this could show them going into a state of relaxation due to the drugs.
Either way this is a very self centred song about someone who's always feeling sorry for themselves and concentrates only on the things that they can't have.
(This is just a personal reading into the song..it's probably not all that acurate..just thought i'd share my ideas).

Something Corporate – Plucked Lyrics 21 years ago
I kinda think this songs about a guy who cheated on his gf and see's it as a mistake
"Lucy, I've confessions
I don't think you ought to know
Lets just sit back
Forget about what's past "
He wants to move on from the experience and "forget about what's past".
"Don't you look away too long
You see I've got something you might need" I think this is talking about him being untrustworthy "Don't you look away too long" but him still wanting to be with her and "I've got something you might need".
"Holding onto what is right
The truth escaped me twice last night"
He wants to keep holding on to her "what is right" But he can't find the way to tell her "the truth escaped me".....Just my interpretation. I may be wrong.

Something Corporate – Forget December Lyrics 21 years ago
This song helped me through my Sucky Christmas. My parents told me of my mum having an affair on christmas day. This song means so much to me because the lyrics are so cleaverly written that it's almost my december in something corporate words. It showed me that I'm not alone and that these things happen and you have to basically "forget december".
