| Stone Temple Pilots – Vasoline Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
In the literal sense, its about a man who is a frequent masturbater thinking about trying to solicit prostitution as an alternative. Unfortunately, he fucks up and gets arrested instead. He then realizes he has become content with masturbation. Metaphorically speaking this song could mean just becoming content with what you've got because you think you're a fuckup. Not taking risks, not working towards goals, etc. Just keep on using the vasoline. |

| A Perfect Circle – The Package Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| And to respond to the guy who said that some fans think Maynard sits around on a bunch of acid writing all this shit, I think acid inspires a LOT of the band's thoughts and songs. He has a lot of LSD references in his writing (Albert Hoffman on 10,000 Days), and he dedicates Opiate to Timothy Leary. So i think thats bullshit, Maynard does a bunch of drugs. | |
| A Perfect Circle – The Package Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song in its literal sense says to me he's a sex addict. Their are addictions other than drugs, and sex is one of them. He is using his 'cleverness' to hook up with a fine ass girl. He rerfers to "the game" as being tricky, cuz afterall, it is. He references looking at her, And best of all, the package... why, what package does every man posess? Its his own package, it was always his, and he always has his peripheral on it. He wants more and more women to feed to the "monster". So to say this song is about drug addiction isn't really accurate. You could interpret that the sex addiction in the song is a metaphor for drugs. But either way, the song is still about sex addiction. |

| Interpol – Evil Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Actually, come to think of it, the masturbation thing makes perfect sense. Even more, the title supports it. Masturbation is viewed as 'EVIL'!!! OF COURSE! REVELATION! Some other things.... "It's the smiling on the package It's the faces in the sand It's the thought that moves you upwards Embracing me with two hands" The package would be the porn (the smiling the porn stars smiling), faces in the sand represents him seeing their sexy faces in the sand because he cant stop thinking about sex, and those thoughts move his penis 'upward', and of course he applies his hands to masturbate. |

| System of a Down – Revenga Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
OK, this is something no one has really considered, but i believe it to be accurate. the mother in this situation is not only the mother, she is a she-pimp. She pimps out her daughter to make money. the voice of the song is a regular customer, who falls in love with his sweet Clementine. but once Clementine becomes old enough, she decides that she is done with being her mothers whore, and she laughs at him and tells him to "go away" . This sets him down a crazy thought trail of all the dirty things he could do to her (his sexual fantasies twisted into murderous fantasies). The line "just your mothers ho" is his thought that she has no right to cut him out of her life. The last line "shoulda been could been woulda been" represents that he thought they could be together and love each other, but she fucked things up and the result is him raping/killing her. |

| System of a Down – Lonely Day Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this song is very literal, and no i dont think it is mocking. this song expresses the basic emotions of love that many people feel, and this is darons interpretation of that. songs like this have been done many times over (expecially as of late with the emo stuff), but I really like the SOAD twist. kickass guitar solos, loud harmonies, incorrect grammar, it all makes for a very emotional, but strictly SOAD, experience. | |
| System of a Down – Kill Rock 'n' Roll Lyrics | 20 years ago |

well the story behind the song has already been told (daron running over the bunny) but i see a more metephorical take to this song. consider the song is from the first person perspective of hard drugs. by hard i mean the stuff you can OD on (not pot, pot is not a drug.. and i dont really count hallucinogens either because you cant really OD, etc). But anyways, the song personifies drugs, and the drugs feel like an asshole for the harm they do (dependence, depression, health risks, possible death), and how in Hollywood all of the sexy people are doing them and potentially ruining their lives. "Every time I look in your eyes Everyday I'm watching you die" Drugs dialate the pupils, so you can see when theyre high. Drug use over time kills you, so everyday the drugs are watching people die. "All the thoughts I see in you About how I..." Drug users often think about the drugs they are doing and their effects The grass represents giving in to your temptations, and in this case the temptation is drugs. So the drugs are saying give in to the temptations to use them, because accident are bound to happen. This is the justification that people on drugs care about being high, and throw caution into the wind. therefore, they are "in the dark". i hope everyone understands what i am getting at here, im kinda stoned so its hard for me to completely explain it. but message me if you wanna talk about this or any other music further |

| Interpol – Slow Hands Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I don't think the song is one of their best, but I think they intended it to be a dance-rock love song. I mean its formulaic, but it is catchy and danceable, so they succeeded. If you want great music and lyrics, Interpol has MUCH better to offer. But if you just wanna dance and rock out, turn this song up real loud. Although I now do agree with Bam that I can't listen to this because it got old after the first couple times. I can listen to every other Interpol song over and over, but not this one. With that being said, I do like "You make me want to pick up a guitar And celebrate the myriad ways that I love you " That kicks ass. |

| Interpol – Public Pervert Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I will have to think about this song for a long time while really fucked up to completely understand, but for now I just want to say that the following verse is genius: we all get paid some get faith before they die then through stars we will navigate through the holes in your eyes He summed up life, love, and death in those simple phrases. |

| Interpol – Evil Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think they titled it Evil to be ironic. Paul often says that he doesnt put much thought into the title of a song. I think he is making a statement with this title though, saying that even though it is natural to love more than one person, any relationship that isn't monogamous is considered "evil". Just a thought. |

| Interpol – Untitled Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I saw them in Atlanta really high. They were amazing. Then I saw them in Raleigh on acid. They were INSANELY AMAZING! I am seeing them again in St Pete in 2 weeks and hopefully I will be on acid again. Hallucinogenics are what I recommend most for Interpol. Oh, and drink and smoke while doing it for maximum insanity. | |
| The Beatles – Yellow Submarine Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
everyone says this song sucks, and i used to agree... i still kind of agree... but i had a different experience with it recently i was really stoned, and my friend just got a record player. the first album she put on was Revolver, and Yellow Submarine seriously sounds crazy on vinyl. so if you dont like the song, do a lot of drugs and then listen to it on vinyl! oh, and this song really is about nothing, anything drug related you want to try and see in it is just the beatles fucking with you! and to haters in here that say the beatles are overrated, that just means you dont like them as much as the other people who "rate" them. so really you should say "I dont like the beatles as much as a lot of people" or something to that effect. in my mind, they are the greatest band ever. and they just loved fucking with people who tried to figure out meanings (ie. this song, i am the walrus, many more) |

| Interpol – Untitled Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Incu is WAY OFF. I think that this song is written from the perspective of God. So if you think God is a "deadbeat selfish person", you've got it! Anyways, just listen to the music. It is kind of haunting, and beautiful, and that one sound that goes like "waahhh", all is supposed to invoke a picture of heaven. The lyrics are from the persepective of God, saying that He will surprise you sometimes. And when you are down, he will come around and help you. The song is called Untitled, because God is mysterious and shouldn't be named. | |
| Interpol – Stella Was a Diver and She Was Always Down Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I agree, at first I thought Stella was a whore, but I think she is more like the "town bicycle", everyones had a ride. He used her for oral sex, but he doesnt feel bad. Instead, he shows appreciation, which may bring up her self-esteem. The question is: does he actually love her? Or does he love what she does? I think it started out as loving the oral sex, but by the end he related sex and love and thought he was in love with her. But everytime they did it, she would leave during the night. He wants to keep her for himself, but she keeps "breaking away". |

| Interpol – Roland Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think its about forming a relationship with someone you wouldn't expect to. This song is written in present tense ("oh look, it stopped snowing). I think he might be telling someone about this relationship. From here its confusing. Is it a metaphor? Or did his friend really get into trouble? Its hard to tell, but I am pretty sure that something happens where they wont be able to see each other anymore, and it disappoints him because "he was growing on me" If anyone can figure this out any further please contact me. |

| Interpol – PDA Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think this song is a relationship gone sour. She was getting bored, and he tried to make it better but she would have none of it. I think they come to the agreement that they should go on a "break", but is saying that she is still welcome to see him, and begin going out again if she changes her attitude. But he doesn't realize that in their time away, they grow even farther apart. And in the song he is realizing that it is over between them. |

| Interpol – Obstacle 1 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
SHE PASSED AWAY!?!? LOL. Very funny. Anyways, since we all know the actual lyrics, I wont post them. But i will say that Def Linus definitely is on the right path with this song. I think that the speaker and the girl are very good friends, and they have had such amazing times together. The problem is that he wants more than friendship, and this frightens her because she is so accustomed to their friendship. I think she fears their friendship would be ruined by making their relationship into a romance. "She can read" i believe means that she can read into the situation, like how things will turn out. She sees it as going bad, he sees is as things can get better "we can cap the old times". She packs it away is her packing her feelings for him away. The whole things makes his heart heavy, knowing that she has "killed" the possibility of them being together. Just my interpretation. I think it fits well with the lyrics. Any thoughts? |

| Interpol – NYC Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
To understant Interpol, you have to be really high and/or tripping (mushroom tea is most effective). Interpol contrasts their lyrics and their music. The lyrics tend to be "depressing" of sorts, but the music emphasizes the internal beauty of life. The whole CD takes you on a ride. This particular song is very moving. The lyrics are a bit sad in the beginning("I'm sick of spending these lonely nights training myself not to care"). I think its about thinking you've reached something in your life, only to figure out that you don't like what you've reached at all. Then you're just stuck with a dirty subway. The speaker goes through it in his mind, and realizes that he has to achieve something better, or take his life in a new direction. This epiphany is represented in the beautiful music solo, and then the lyrics "It's up to me now turn on the bright lights ". I think this is one of the easiest song on the CD to understand. The others are much more difficult and open to interpretation. |

| System of a Down – Marmalade Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
This song could be addressing rape, but I think it addresses sex in general, and can apply to rape. "Duct tape her legs to the red sky" could be about rape, but I think it is mostly emphasizing how much sex the person needs. "Furry roadkill" is probably referring to the woman's vagina, because it is surrounded by hair, and the person just uses it for sex and then throws it away like roadkill. |
