I agree with everyone else who said its about touring, the pains of touring and missing home and being annoyed with fans and everything, but when I first heard this, I thought maybe it was about regrets with the band (Feel like every chance to leave is another chance I should've took). Maybe he wishes he could go back but cant now because Brand New has fans who appreciate them and so its almost like now, this is all for them. |

I think that this song is obviously about a drug addiction. Besides the obvious of needle in the hay and the line that says "strung out and thin" throughout the entire song, hes talking about his drug dealer, how the addiction affects him, etc.
And the line :
"you ought to be proud that i'm getting good marks" to me, means that even though you are fucking up your life and you know this, you're still doing good in school and making your parents proud. As if this justifies for his addiction. I fucking love this song. |

Yes. This is one of the Bright Eyes songs that doesnt depress the hell out of me. It makes me remember all those nights sitting up with my freinds in a basement with a few good cds for hours and just how these are going to be the times we remember 20 years from now. |
