Coldplay – High Speed Lyrics

I don't think the metaphor he uses is about relationships. He often uses "living in a bubble" to describe how naive and ignorant humans are because there's so much we don't see outside of our own lives... our "bubble." I don't know what this song has to do with relationships because I personally don't think it is but I also have no idea what it IS about. |

The Postal Service – This Place Is a Prison Lyrics

Actually, when I saw them live before they played this song Ben said "This song is about my home-town, Seattle." And me being a dear friend to Ben we talked about it over a beer that night and he said it's about being a kid and growing up feeling like you're trapped in this city and you want to get out but you can't because you're not "ready" or old enough. |

The Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Lyrics

My favourite on the album. To me he's talking about visiting an old friend in DC. Someone he used to be very close to. But now the friend has new friends and they've grown apart and he doesn't feel apart of things anymore with the new friends and the apartment and ect. And he is very humble and explains how he finally realizes how it was worth leaving. |

The Postal Service – Sleeping In Lyrics

To me this song is about the writer (Ben) having dreams about how things in the world should be. To me he's dreaming about humans being perfect, humans being naive to bad personality flaws, to the wrong doings of other humans, ect. And he wants to sleep in so he can continue dreaming about these things because he knows it'll never actually be like that in reality. |

The Postal Service – Recycled Air Lyrics

I think he wrote this song from a seat on an airplane. It sounds to me like he's talking about looking down on earth. He's "feeling green"... feeling sick. He's tasting recycled air which is exactly how the air in airplanes is. |

The Postal Service – Nothing Better Lyrics

This song is absolutely wonderful because it lets us know that girls aren't the only ones who can't get over relationships. I think it's really sweet how Ben paints us this movie-like scenario about a guy who will do anything to get his girl back but she knows it'll just end badly. |

This song is amazing. When I heard it being played live it was just... wow, undescribable. And it's just simply about writing a song that can relate to everyone even though that's not what he's doing. |

It's about wanting things to be perfect, movie-like. Especially love because everyone knows love in reality is nothing like movies portray it. |

Pedro the Lion – Slow and Steady Wins the Race Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
But the politician is the one who ends up on the wrong path and the drunkard is the one who is forgiven by Jesus and eventually enters "heaven." You guys ALL have the wrong impression of this song. Totally. When Pedro the Lion came to my town he played a free set at this record store... an acoustic set. He let us ask him questions and I got nervous but ended up asking him what this song was supposed to REALLY portray. We talked about it, just me and him (and 2 other people.) He told me that this song isn't supposed to portray christians as "holier-than-though." He said that he believes when we get to heaven that we're not totally careless of our loved-ones who didn't make it but when we get there God's not going to let us be sad about stuff like that. In this song I believe David Bazan's portraying a man who's concerned about his brother while on earth but when he gets to heaven he's no longer concerned. Either his brother will get there eventually or he won't make it. There's nothing he could do about it since it's God's will. This came straight from Bazan's lips and you can think this song means what you want it to mean but that's not the message he was trying to make at all by the lyrics "I said I don't know, and ate." The bible says we're not to make it into heaven without the attitude of a child. When we're children and there's food in front of us we're not worried about much else. We know everything is taken care of already and that's what this song is really portraying. |

Pedro the Lion – Rapture Lyrics

To me this song has always represented the line in the bible that says something about how just looking at another woman is commiting adultery. The thoughts cross through our minds so fast we don't think twice about it being wrong at all. I think this song is just the thoughts of a man as he looks at another woman. It happens to all of us... committed to someone or not. |

Pete Yorn – Just Another Lyrics

This song reminds me a lot of a relationship I was in this summer. I had just bought this CD and couldn't put it down and I was visiting a friend in Seattle. I met this guy and we had a thing for a week and we really cared about each other and this song made me realize that it's gonna end even though we both care a lot about each other. We're still friends but it would never work... to him I'm just another girl. (haha, that was cheesy) |

Jeff Buckley – Last Goodbye Lyrics

I agree with Rowley. The thing I love about Jeff Buckley is his songs are so beautiful. I mean, the beginning can start out mellow and he extends into this intense bit where he'll use all his vocal power to make the lyrics more powerful and his voice is so amazing that you don't even barely recognize the music which is also beautiful but ugh... i can't say enough good things about this man. |

Nick Drake – Pink Moon Lyrics
|
Actually, I've read the Nick Drake biography and everyone around him, his friends and family all agreed that right before he died he was just starting to get happy again. He was really optimistic about Pink Moon and that was a first because he had always been so negative about everything. So friends and family and even fans have a good reason to believe his death was an accident. After reading about his life it's hard to imagine he'd kill himself. From the view I've read I feel that as long as he was making music he would have no reason to kill himself. Everything else in the world could have brought him down but he loved making music and was planning on making it for many, many years to come. But as for what 'fugazifathead' said, this song isn't just about a moon. A lot of Nick's songs had references to depression and death and people barely noticed after his death. He was depressed... that's the sort of stuff musicians write about when they're depressed. This isn't just a song about a moon on a beautiful night. Trust me. |

Weezer – Holiday Lyrics

I hate when girls say stupid stuff like "I love Rivers. He doesn't know it yet, but we're engaged." Pfshaw. Yeah, right. You'll probably never meet Rivers and if you do he'll probably just use you for sex. Not that he would since he thinks his fans are idiots. I would too, if I had stupid fans like the stupid girls that think Weezer IS Rivers. Ya know, Brian and Pat have been in the band just as long as he has. |

Saying "these are like the best lyrics ever written" is a pretty ignorant thing to say. Considering people like Bob Dylan, Ben Gibbard, and Jeff Buckley have existed long before Tsunami Bomb. But good song, nonetheless. |

Dave Matthews Band – Spoon Lyrics

I get the impression he's talking about Jesus... in certain lines that make references to the bible. "Could dad be god?" That line to me is from the perspective of Jesus. "Crosses cross hung out like a wet rag Forgive you why You hung me out to dry." So is this one but he's talking about the people that hung him on the cross. "There're voices behind me saying Sinners sin Come now and play" And this one of course is talking about the temptation of the devil. I'm not sure what the song means but these are just some of the lyrics I've interpreted as certain bible references. |

Refused – Coup d'Etat Lyrics
|
I love being the first to comment on songs. Especially. Everyone knows Dennis is angry and his music and lyrics are what music should be. I'm sorry to say Refused is no longer a band but Dennis lives on through T(I)NC and his lyrics are great for any angry citizen that's protesting anything. This song is amazing and speaks for me when I can't find the words to say. I hear this song and most of the time I can't figure out what my favourite lines are... "planning my revolution with a catchy phrase" or "I will not die for you, I will not kill for you, I will not fight for you" or just simply "I will have my coup d'etat" is enough to make me excited about getting arrested for protesting the war against Iraq and the crappy way our government handles things. Dennis had so much to sing about and fight about and he'll probably die trying to revolutionize but he'll always be appreciated for such songs as this. |
