I'm sick of ppl saying that Evanescence is a Christian Band. Even if they were, Does it really matter? If they wanna be a Christian Band, let them, and if they don't? That's fine too. The point is they're a great band no matter what style they are! FeuerVogel wrote the lyrics over describing them in a Christian way. I'm gonna show you how it can be put into a non-Christian meaning. *How can you see into my eyes like open doors. Leading you down into my core where I've become so numb. Without a soul my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold until you find it there and lead it back home.* She could be talking to someone she loves with all her heart and he can see right thru her eyes "like open doors" leading them down thru the remnants of her very soul (her core) where she has become so numb from not feeling the same emotion from this person. Her spirit is going to be sleeping "somwhere cold" (within her as she has "no soul") *which doesnt make this a Christian song because she says the word soul* her spirit will be here in this cold dark empty place until this person comes and shows her this emotion and "leads it back home" *Wake me up. Wake me up inside. I can't wake up. Wake me up inside. Save me. Call my name and save me from the dark. Wake me up. Bid my blood to run. I can't wake up. Before I come undone. Save me. Save me from the nothing I've become.* She wants this person to wake her up by returning that very same emotion she is putting out towards them. Bring me to life.* She is saying she has been lieing to herself all this time about everything pretending that none of it was real and there is nothing "real" inside of her. *Frozen inside without your touch, without your love, darling. Only you are the life among the dead.* She's is frozen inside because she is loving this person so much and they couldn't care one bit about her. And it's as if the rest of the world were dead to her and this person was the only life she knew exsisted. *All of this time I can't believe I couldn't see Kept in the dark but you were there in front of me* She couldn't see anything else aside from this person and now she is realizing everything. (i'll explaiin why i keep mentioning the word realize after im done) *I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems. got to open my eyes to everything.* that's basically just like the other part about her being "slepping" all this time and now she's opening her eyes to everything. *Without a thought Without a voice Without a soul* Her thoughts are all confused, she doesn't have a "voice" because she doesn't know what to say about everything she has been "waking up to" and she is so numb inside that she's "without a soul" like i said just because she mentions the word soul does not mean they are a Christian Band or this song is about God. *Don't let me die here There must be something wrong. Bring me to life.* She wants this person not to ignore her anymore, she wants them to show these emotions and she doesnt want them just to leave her there to die. (the rest of the song is pretty much the same as something that has been written above.) Now, Sorry to make this so long and thanks to the people who actually took the time to read this. This is not the only way to interpret the song. The reason I used the word realize so muchis because Amy actually made a quote about what the song is about. She said "This song is about being numb towards something for so long and then one day just waking up and finally realizing everything you could not understand before." There's another way to interpret the song, proably the best way since it came from the writer. For the last time they aren't a Christian Band and this is not a song about God. If it was, she would have mentioned something about it in the above statement. So just so you know, FeuerVogel, this song isn't about God, and they aren't a Christian Band, and my proof os above. | I think this song defenately has a Romeo/Juliet theme behind it. I think it's about a couple who no one wants to be together but their feelings are too strong for each other. Amy is dreaming of taking him away into a world where no one will tell them what to do and they can be free together. | |

| Hey me again. You guys are probably sick of my opinion from what I wrote the other night. But anyway... To me this song has a meaning of not wanting to face the world and wanting to lay in your own little word (as she says in the song) with things we know could never be real. Paper flowers, candy clouds, purple skies. I think it's a very nice song. Being lost inside yourself and escaping the every day life is actually very good for someone to do. If you stay in reality too long, you'll never get out alive. I think Amy is describing the feeling that most of us have but only a few of us will actually admit. | |

I'm pretty sure that someone had said something quite similar about the meaning of this song, but I'm pretty much going to repeat the lyrics and what they could possibly mean. But before I start I want to apoligize incase "dumb it down" for anybody. It's just a very "easy to understand" way to explain my views on the song. And most of you already know but for those who don't a tourniquet is something that stops bleeding. It can also be described as something that stops anything. If you were to stop something from happening you would be a tourniquet for that particular thing. So here goes! i tried to kill the pain but only brought more (basically there was emotional/physical/mental pain in her life that she couldn't bare any longer, so she attempted suicide, causing her more pain than before) i lay dying and i'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal (as she is laying there dying bleeding, thru her blood comes all her regrets and the things that betrayed her) i'm dying praying bleeding and screaming (self explanitory) am i too lost to be saved am i too lost? (she is wondering if she is too lost in her hatred and suicide to be saved from an eternal hell which might await her) my God my tourniquet return to me salvation (she's asking God, as her tourniquet, to stop her from doing this to herself and to return all salvation to her) do you remember me lost for so long (she's asking God if he remembers her at all when she turned to him for help while being lost for so long) will you be on the other side or will you forget me (she's asking God if he will be on the other side waiting for her or will he just forget about her and not pay attention to her) {next part is the same.... see above} my wounds cry for the grave (she is hurting so bad that she just wants to die.... be delivered to the grave) my soul cries for deliverance (she wants her soul to be delivered to God on the other side.... in the "after life" if you will) will i be denied Christ (she's asking Christ if she will be denied and but rejected or will he forgive then accept her) tourniquet my suicide (she is asking Christ to stop her from commiting suicide) This is what the song means to me. Many of you might not agree and some of you might. It doesn't matter really because since this is songmeanings.net I figured I would share my thoughts about the song. The reason my thoughts are so strong is because of been in this exact possition before in my life. And lucky for me Christ did not deny me.... at least as far as I know. Well that's all for me I think I've written enough. Again I'm sorry if I "dumbed it down". It's just because even some of my friends wouldn't get it so I figured if they ever came on this to read it that they would understand it better. The reason I took each peice of the lyrics and described it individually is because that's just my style. Well like I said I'm off.
