I love this song. I think it means all that stuff about love and lust and all. I agree with most of the other comments here.
And i want to point out that it could be about two married people, because 'ball and chain' is often used in reference to marriage.
I just wanted to say something about the sellout issue. Music is a business. A business' purpose is to earn money. People buy the stuff. So if DMB wants to change their music style a little to flow with the changing business world, its okay. its normal and i wish everyone would quit calling them sellouts, because other bands do it, too.

i agree i think it is talking about someone close to him who has died. especially when he says "To touch you again,/With life in your hands" that seems to imply the person is dead. |
