musically, the guitarwork reminds me of 'wounded' off of 'blue.' this is one of my favorite songs on the new album because its the most intense. supposedly, it is about stephan's relationship with charlize theron, as is most of the songs off of 'out of the vein.' however, the song really hits me because he describes the gruesome details of his 'hit and run,' but he gets to walk away unscathed and only stronger in the end. the whole song is an extended metaphor of his relationship with charlize. i also noticed that 'mister death' is personified the same way it is on 'burning man' off the self-titled. overall, awesome song. |

this is probably my favorite song on the new album. when i saw them in april, stephan said that 'misfits' was the song that's the 'most special' to him and people 'aren't meant to hear it.' i can just really relate to this song - i think all fans can. it gives me chills everytime i listen to it, because at the end stephan is yelling, "THE MISTFITS - THE FREAKS - THE ENEMY - YOU AND ME - THOSE ARE THE ONES FOR ME." and he is totally sincere in what he is saying there. awesome band. awesome song. |

third eye blind is one of these bands that you can listen to over and over again and never get tired of. five years later, they are still my favorite band. in my opinion, this song is their best ever. the way stephan sounds in it is amazing. from what stephan says, the song is about "a girl that dumped him on his ass." "i've never been so alone, and i've never been so alive." - best line. as lilneekers said, "hauntingly beautiful." definitely. |
