Linkin Park – Somewhere I Belong Lyrics 23 years ago
That's exactly what I've been thinking all along, illuminatethenight, though I didn't phrase it the way you did. Linkin Park just wouldn't be who they are if they didn't write all their own stuff. From everything that I've seen, I see that they love music, they have a passion for it and a hunger to write it and play it for others to hear.

They spent over 18 months making the Meteora album, and you're right, it is a little short (something I hope they change), and if they spent THAT much time on it and put forth that much effort, then they'd be crazy to have all their stuff written by someone else. They were writing songs on the tour bus a couple years ago and came up with over 80 songs, for crying out loud. (To anyone who doubts that, I can back that up with one of their video clips that I've seen.)

Also, bl00dsh0t, Linkin Park rewrote the chorus to 'Somewhere I Belong' somewhere between thirty and forty times. (I can back that one up as well.) It was also one of the last songs they finished...it was done in New York right before they began mixing the album there. You may be able to furnish "proof" that your friend "wrote" stuff for Linkin Park, but how do I know it's legitimate? Since Linkin Park went through so much trouble just to make one of their songs as good as it can be, why would they do that with something that they hadn't even been inspired to write in the first place? It doesn't make sense.

Being in a band isn't all about fame, or money, or anything else that comes with being a "rock star." It's about reaching out with your music and conveying their thoughts, emotions, and feelings to their audience. They have some concept or idea that they want to get out to others, and they do it be music. What better way to transfer your feelings, emotions, etc. to others in a way that they will feel the same sensation you do, than to do it through the median of music?

All that said, why would Linkin Park just let someone else write their lyrics? If they were to do that, they'd lose the edge they've come to have, an edge which all their fans love. No, Linkin Park couldn't have had someone else write their lyrics. They wouldn't be the true music artists that they are if they did that. They would lose valuable communication with their listeners - who wants to listen someone perform something they didn't write themselves yet still claim as their own? That's how bands go bad and lose all the fans and popularity they'd built up. I don't see that happening with Linkin Park. They truly care about their work and the quality of the music they produce for all of us to hear. As illuminatethenight said, they'd be discredited and labled as a band who couldn't really make it on their own. One of the pretenses to the making of Meteora was that Linkin Park didn't want any outside artists on it. They wanted to do it all on their own. If they applied that to the major names in the music industry who'd be more than willing to work with Linkin Park, then it only makes sense that they apply it to the rest of their work as well. No, Linkin Park did it all on their own. Case closed.

Now. Let's all do as illuminatethenight suggested and not "wet ourselves." ;-)

Have any of you dumb fucks ever read the album cover to Meteora? It says, "All songs written by Linkin Park."

That refers to the music itself, yes, but it can also be applied to the lyrics as well. I haven't seen anything that says who writes the lyrics, and I've had the cd since the day it came out. I've read through the entire cd insert, and no credit is given to anyone for the lyrics of the songs. The lyrics could have all been written by Linkin Park, yet it is also possible that LP didn't write everything Chester and Mike sing.

I've watched all the behind the scenes footage I could, both on the 'Making of Meteora' DVD, the enhanced cd, and on the Linkin Park TV, and I never saw anything that said that they didn't write the lyrics to everything they sing. I get a very srtong impression that the band DOES write almost all of their lyrics, if not all of them. I know for a fact that Chester writes a lot of what they sing. I believe that LP DID write all of their own lyrics...if they had someone else do it, didn't credit them in the album insert, and said that they did it all, they could be taken to court for that. Linkin Park isn't that stupid. If someone else DID write the lyrics, then they would have given the lyricist the credit he/she deserves. I've read the fine print...all of it, and I don't see any lyric credit to 'Somewhere I Belong.'

How come your "friend" isn't credited for "writing" the song, bl00dsh0t? I have no idea why you think your petty claim holds water...anyone could say they know the person who wrote the lyrics. Do I believe them? No. Do I believe you? No.

I'm a huge fan of Linkin Park, and none of the bullshit that is said against them will change that. Meteora is the best cd they've put out. I've been blasting it over my headphones and stereo for over a week now, and I'm still not tired of it.

Linkin Park – My Dsmbr Lyrics 23 years ago
I have to say, this song hit me the hardest of all the songs on Linkin Park's three cds. I love every song by them, and I have my favorites, but this was the first song to really get to me with it's message. I love it. I've felt the way the lyrics describe, and can totally relate.

Blink-182 – Please Take Me Home Lyrics 23 years ago
I've had this cd since it first came out, but it's been on the shelf for a year or so. I don't know why...maybe my music tastes were going in a different direction for a while? I can totally relate to this song, it almost perfectly describes what's been going on with me and this girl at school who's be come a kool friend of mine over the past year. We didn't actually date, but I fell for her and fell hard That kind of made our friendship awkward and gave meaning to the line "Why did we have to go date? It's too easy to complicate." Things are a little complicated now. I can totally relate to this song, and now I listen to it and the rest of the album all the time. Why can't guys have girls as friends without falling for them?

Linkin Park – Lying from You Lyrics 23 years ago
This is another good Linkin Park song, then again, it's not unusual for Linkin Park to come out with really good songs. I didn't actually hear this song untill today, and the more I listen to it and think about the lyrics, the more I see how it applies to me and the situation I've found myself in with this girl at school. Pushmeaway and gregmarck are totally right as to what this song means.

I first heard this song over a month or two ago before it was released on the radio or anything. I loved it and played it over and over. The alternative rock radio station in my area has a link to something called LPTV, it's all about Linkin Park's new Meteora album. Check out http://www.bandbuilder.com/lptv/index.php?ref_code=C14431 if you wanna see what I'm talking about. It's pretty kool. I don't think this song CAN be overplayed. I, personally, have played it over and over for 20 to 30 minutes straight and haven't gotten tired of it. From what I've heard, Meteora is going to be awesome. Get it on the 25th! Linkin Park is awesome no matter what anyone else may think or say.
