when i read the lyrics to this song i saw many of what seemed like refrences to space and time travel, and space travel seems like one of the predominant references of atd-i's songs. Lines like "folding space in the crease of this page" and "wormed our way through distant earth" seem to be of significance to the use of wormholes and th 'folding of space' to travel great distances (light-years). "Dilated" refers to the dilation of time, Einstiens theory of special relativity that seems to be supportive of time travel: when a moving object travels near the speed of light time slows down, thus "if this clock keeps ticking away will time be hesitated of all the minutes that were taken away will your watch be waiting?" and all the other references of time portals.. and as for the other lines of the song.. i'm not sure but drug abuse, old age, and all the others are great guesses.. just my two cents. |

those are actually all good takes on the meaning of the song. When i first read the lyrics i was guessing the song was about propaganda and covering up the truth with lies:"we sample from the shelves tore a page out of this chapter deface the essays in the book that you're reading", so those in power change the facts into lies which the public accepts as truth. The government is very protective of information, and letting knowledge slip into the "wrong" hands: "deficit attention program by any means necessary blare sirens to the library whisper instructions to the book-wormed glossary" and they tell us to accept what they are telling us because they are"the leaches that stop the bleeding" "tell us is the black box lying?" |

| i think this song is about how they see many mainstream artists as "selling out" or doing it all for money. "Used to be that fun was our Main objective, but Mr. old school Will tell the new fuel, they're Igniting in the wrong direction" means that before it was all about having fun but now they make music for the wrong reasons such as making money... and now "your a sales figure"... | |

| i think this song is about the band trying to ignore greedy record company execs who try to sign them just to make more money... either that or its how they see mainstream artists who have already made the mistake in "selling-out" thats where the line "your a sales figure" comes in | |

| i like your interperetation of the song... and i think youve got it perfectly... but have something to add, maybe it also has something to peer pressure leading to the use of alcohol or drugs... the line "bite the hand that feeds" refers to turning down the offer... "more than you can choose" may refer to feeling like you dont have a choice... "and "burnned myself in the cigerette crossfire" could mean he gave into the pressure and is now hooked on smoking and drinking... just my opinion... | |
