I know there's something that you're dying to tell me I hope it's not about your future without me Make sure no one finds out Tell me all about it Don't keep it to yourself Cos I can't bear the thought I'll never leave you quietly I know you'll find me It doesn't matter Cos I need you here I know that you're ashamed So emotional that it kills you Don't you know that you're ashamed So emotional it kills you There's always something that makes you guilty There's just something that you're dying to tell me Make sure no one finds out Tell me all about it Don't keep it to yourself Cos I can't bear the thought I'll never leave you quietly I know you'll find me It doesn't matter Cos I need you here I know that you're ashamed So emotional that it kills you Don't you know that you're ashamed So emotional it kills you That's what I always thought the lyrics were... they may still be wrong but they def. make more sense than the ones above. This song is not one of their best, but i still like it; the meaning seems pretty simple but i think it clearly describes that moment when you know someone's about to say something you don't want to hear. |

| Pavement – Serpentine Pad Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I love the way this song parodies typical over-the-top rock-band moaning about corporate stuff. The chorus (I believe I will never leave ur serpentine pad) reminds me of meeting someone for the first time and being so drawn in by them that you don't think they could have any faults or that your illusions about them could ever be shattered. Plus, I love the way he says "anyway." | |
