i think this song is great. the way i was told was that when people heard it on the radio in 88, everyone thought how wonderful this african-american artist was. then they found out he looked like howdie-doodie. aparently his career ended around there. i still think, that even thought his voice didnt match his look, that he was a great artist and deserved at least some recognition for this great song.

i dont get it why everyone likes this guy so much. i came here to see what this song was about and what people think about it. not to offend anyone (which im thoroughly about to do)..but eminem talks about raping women, using women, killing people, and being violent. they always tell us, "if u dont like it dont listen to it..." but the fact is that other people who listen to it CAN take it seriously, whether Em likes it or not, he's a"role model" to some people who wanna be like him. Its ridiculous, because we dont need anymore of what he's saying in the world. hell no. this song isnt 'funny' or 'tight'...its wrong. completely wrong.

this song is definetly about the draft and how they picked people for it. (you got a number and they randomly selected you. but you could pay ur way out of going if your parents had the money, hence the name "fortunate son") but i like how they wrote it and why. these bands were the voice of the young poeple at the time....

i agree with majii except for one point- smoking weed is never a good idea. i kno i osund like your mother, but it does no good to anyone or anyones lives. the same with christi and mrmojo. weed hurts people whether you want to admit it or not. but i do agree with everyone on the fact that if all sierp wanted to do was make a comment about a song (on a message board no less..) and compuwiz is absolutely right that how can they say hippies suck when we are living in THIS generation.
