well, the whole cd is basically how pessimistic thom yorke is becoming about the world. how corrupted and impure the world is today. i think this song and the whole cd is like a tribute or something to 1984 by george orwell. 2+2=5 is a large part of that book, where there was a world where if big brother told you that 2+2=5 you must accept it as true. so, to move away from that tangent, i think this song is just about 1984, basically. |

This song is sort of sad. It strikes me as sort of pathetic on the singer's part. Like, not pathetic, but, just sad I guess. Every time he says Deborah I always think of Deborah Harry (Blondie), but that couldn't be right. Be pretty cool though. |

this song is fucking amazing. i think the reason so many people connect with it is because it really shows of all of conor's talents. this is the best showcase of his lyrics and songwriting skills. not to mention his voice has never sounded better. this is one of my favorite bright eyes songs with which i sometimes attack people with and turn them into bright eyes fan. everybody do the same and the whole world will love bright eyes! haha :D |

i'm probably going to get such shit for this, i am a big bright eyes fan, but i don't think this is one of conor's best songs. i think the line about the doctor is so...hm. pseudo-intellectual and predictable. it's trying to be profound but - think about it - it really isn't. there's some really amazing songs by bright eyes out there, i can't figure out why this one is on mtv. nobody will agree with me, but i just thought i'd post this anyway. |
